"Comfortable and enjoyable."

Views from the room. Lots of space in the room. Professional and courteous staff.

Bathroom shower on/off water handle was loose and fell off once. In the bedroom there was something like an electrical panel by the wood closet.

"Overall nice, but expensive and not flawless - not a good value"

7.0

Overall nice property with location right across from Hamilton. Hotel has their own ferry, however that ferry has quite a limited schedule and not very convenient at most times (doesn`t run mid-day and stops running way too early in the evening, they`re also off on weekends and holidays). Public ferry stop/bus stop are not that far, but you`d have to walk on the road with no side walk and multiple curves, so you don`t really see what`s coming at you. Roads are super narrow and windy. We walked to the public ferry and bus several times anyway, but didn`t feel super comfortable due to above stated conditions. Hotel has heated pool and hot tab. Jets in the hot tab/control for the jets were broken throughout our stay (only front desk could turn them on), then heating in both pool and hot tab broke on the last 2 days of our stay. There is a fancy restaurant on site - since there aren`t any other food options without transportation, we`ve eaten dinner there several times as well as breakfast. Food was good for the most part (we liked some dishes better than others). Hotel provides rides to their other properties where you can find access to the beach, golf courses and a couple more restaurants (also quite expensive). If I was to go to Bermuda again I`d probably stay in Hamilton or would pick something around St. George, but would definitely consider easier access to different food options and transportation.

Let me start from saying that it was quite expensive (as everything in Bermuda), even though it was off season. For the price we paid I`d expect much more or at least some basic breakfast included, special request to be on a higher floor accommodated and hot tub/heated pool actually working throughout the whole stay (was broken last 2 days of our stay, but hotel somewhat compensated us for this inconvenience). So you have to pay for breakfast (around $30 per person minimum - coffee and eggs) and no "cheap" options are available, because it`s a fancy restaurant where you have to go to eat your breakfast. We were placed on the first floor with limited view despite in advance request for higher floor with nicer view. I didn`t get an impression that hotel was full at any point of our stay, but they refused to move us to a room with better view stating that none are available. When I was looking for the hotel in Bermuda this one seemed to be on the least expensive side and looked extremely nice from the pictures and reviews, however it turned out that value is not quite there unfortunately. My main criteria for next Bermuda trip would be proximity to transportation and food options.

The hotel and grounds were beautiful and immaculately kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The onsite restaurant was open, airy and bright with seating both inside and out. Food was special and delicious. Wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. We had a very special time there and hope to return one day.

Staff and views are amazing! Spaciousness of suites cant be beat. Double balcony was an nice treat too. We love full kitchens and this one was perfect. Pools were gorgeous and warm, very well maintained.

Food wasnt as good as I expected and exhorbitantly priced. Tennis courts could have been in much better shape. New tennis court nets would be the easiest immediate fix needed.

"Newstead Belmont Hills Resort & Spa - Beautiful, Expensive - Not as Friendly"

8.0

The Newstead Belmont Resort & Spa property is beautiful and very picturesque. My husband & I shared a one-bedroom suite equipped with a full kitchen, microwave, stove top, dish washer, dining table and chairs, 2 baths and spa like main bathroom. It had a built-in refrigerator, and a stand-alone full-size refrigerator. Luckily the second refrigerator was in working condition. We had panoramic views of the water in both the living room & bedroom that was adjacent to Hamilton. The hotel also offered a free ferry into Hamilton that ran in the mornings, and again after 5pm. The spa offered massages, and I took advantage of the 50-minute Swedish massage. It was very enjoyable but very pricey. Their restaurant called the Aurora offered good food, but they restrict paying guests from utilizing the restaurant when special events were setup. We were not allowed to utilize the restaurant on two occasions, during our stay. That needs to change if they want to remain competitive. Paying guest should always have access to the on-site restaurant. The hotel also does not have a gift shop. It did have a snack closet, so you could get water, juice, and a few snacks. There is a fitness center, but with all the stairs in this resort, you probably won't need to use any of the fitness equipment. The front desk clerks were not very accommodating or eager to share details that would enhance your vacation. A few of the front desk clerks were nice, but a couple were not very friendly nor eager to please. One in particular advised us to take a bus to the Royal Navy Dockyard, when there was a ferry that operated daily for only $5 dollars, after taking their free ferry into Hamilton. The ferry to the Dockyard took only 20 minutes and trips were available all day every day. The hotel didn't offer tours of the island, but they recommend their special taxis for tours. Unfortunately, the hotel's choice was at a higher rate. We decided to engage a regular taxi to give us our tour of the island for $50 dollars an hour, while the hotel engaged taxis that charge $65 dollars an hour, both with a three-hour minimum. Our taxi gave us a great tour and we shared a meal with great conversation. Our main bathroom had a little mildew in the ceiling, and one morning I awoke to find a roach on the countertop. We killed and flushed it, and then advised the front desk to engage an exterminator. Someone was sent to spray the room immediately, so it was handled properly. The shower handle also came off in my husband's hands, while trying to start the shower. Luckily it went back into place without incident. The shower tub was so slick we both almost fell in the tub. We had to request a shower mat. We had to use a towel to get in and out of the tub, until they furnished a bathmat. The pool & jacuzzi were beautiful, but the jacuzzi jets were broken. We had to ask someone to turn on the jets every time we used the jacuzzi. There were also missing tiles in the jacuzzi, which caused me to bruise my arm. The bar staff was not interested in being accommodating or friendly. When we asked if someone could assist with turning on the jacuzzi jets she was very dismissive. We decided to just relax in the water since it was heated. The resort was built in 2008, and now is in need of some repairs. If they plan to continue to charge such expensive prices, they should start to take care of the repairs. We thought the island overall was beautiful, and the locals were very friendly. Our suggestion is to make friends with your taxi driver and try to arrange tours and ask for restaurant suggestions to enhance your dining. The food will be expensive, and the souvenirs will be costly, but the views of Bermuda won't disappoint.
