Green Gables Inn, A Four Sisters Inn

The location of this beautiful inn is stunning. The architecture of the building is gorgeous. Very nicely kept and maintained. A spectacular ocean walking path is literally steps away across the street. It’s hard to imagine improving on the location and the building. The only not glowing comments we would make would be these 2: -the location of our room. We stayed in the Lacey Suite. In their defense, it does say on the website it’s on the main floor. But it doesn’t mention the door to the room opens into the main public space, with people moving past your door, and in the morning breakfast sounds are loud and clear. For a couple looking for a romantic getaway with opportunities for privacy and lazy mornings, this wasn’t ideal. -no heat. The weather was upper 50s low 60s, so nice and chilly. There is an ambiance fire that doesn’t seem to heat much at all, and they did provide a space heater, but dress accordingly. It wasn’t super cozy. There were a few little things, like the faucet was so close to the sink bowl edge it was hard to use, the shower pressure was quite low, and we tripped a breaker once (unplug the space heater in the sitting room before using the blow dryer in the bathroom). But these things are maybe more expected in a historic building. We just weren’t thinking about the room location and the heat, those caught us a little off guard. Still, we’d consider it a privilege to go back, we might just try the balcony room upstairs next time.

The experience was really lovely. The staff were helpful and the food was great. The location was exceptional.

My sister could not make it up and down the stairs. This severely impacted her experience. I wish there was something on the website that said the only way to get to the rooms was via very narrow stairs. Additionally I had to run the water in the shower for more than 5 minutes before the water was warm enough. I was disappointed that the metal on the shower door was corroding. I expected more for $500 a night.

The free happy hour drinks and food was a nice gesture as was having a fireplace in the room.

Green Gables Inn in Pacific Grove is a treasure. It has the charm of a beautiful, timeless Victorian home, updated with just enough modern touches to make for a perfect stay. The rooms are lovely - we stayed in the Balcony room, which has the addition of a private day porch where we sat and enjoyed listening to the tide come in. In the mornings, we spotted a small pod of four whales as they swam by, as well as seals and otters. Our room was clean and very quiet, even though there were other guests right down the hall from us. Although our private bath was just across the hall, rather than in the room, it did not pose a problem at all. The inn's location is ideal. The walking path on the edge of the ocean is just across the street, so we were able to walk for hours and enjoy the views. It is a short 7 minute drive to Carmel with its shops and beautiful beach, and just minutes to Monterey, making it the perfect location for exploring the area. We are so thankful we found Green Gables Inn and are already booking another stay for next year. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet, lovely visit to Pacific Grove.

This is another wonderful place in the Four Sisters family. My daughter and I visited for the weekend in October to celebrate our birthdays. We stayed in the Balcony room with a beautiful view of the ocean. We kept the windows open all night to hear the waves crashing. Private bathroom is across the hall and we never even saw another guest in the hallway. Ivy is amazing, she was super kind and informative about the area! Afternoon wine and cheese was a special treat as well as the delicious breakfast. The cookies in the afternoon is another perk. The great thing about this place is the fact that you can walk everywhere. We parked the car on Friday when we arrived and didn't get in it again until we left on Sunday. Can't wait to return!!

The room, decor, view, location, and communal amenities were all incredible. 10/10

We had problems with the coffee maker and breakfast wasn’t as good as we had heard. (The hash browns had way too much cheese)

This place was a 10/10 experience from start to finish. We were greeted by Ivy, who was extremely friendly and informative. The space was beautiful and relaxing, with a gorgeous view of the water from the lobby. They offer complimentary tea, coffee, and beverages in the lobby along with a nightly wine + cheese offering in the evenings! The breakfast was also amazing. The room was gorgeous and comfortable. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, we will definitely stay here again.
