Trailhead Lodge

This was my first time in Steamboat - the place was very nice & we had a great weekend. We'll be back.

A lovely property with an amazing pool, hot tub and Mountain View’s.

Nice property. We were on the 4th floor and the room above had small children running and jumping off furniture the entire stay. Front desk clerk verified that there was no one checking in the next day, but Vacasa denied a late check out. Will avoid Vacasa properties in the future.

Solid basic condo. Bed great, shower great. Hot tub fantastic. No complaints

DO NOT book through Vacasa which Expedia books through. They charge for everything and will not accommodate simple requests. It was our anniversary and they could have cared less to help us out with a last minute late checkout. We now learned you can reserve directly with Trailhead and they are extremely flexible. The condo itself was nice and has great hotubs.

The property is decorated nicely. The location was convenient both being near a chairlift but also close to town and walking/biking trails.

Can’t think of one bad thing to say about our stay. Everything was wonderful.

Great hotel. Very clean and nice.

Frustrating experience. The unit we rented had a broken AC- normally not an issue in SBS- however- the weather was warm and upon check in, our room was 83 degrees. We turned on the Ac and went to grab dinner only to return to a room that was the same temperature. Around 9, we called the front desk- and I was told to “open a window”. Again, in SBS that can work- but it was a very warm evening. When I said, I was sure the air was not working- I was told someone would come shortly. After multiple fix its- it was determined there was no working system- even a fan- working- and they would need to move us. This stuff happenes- not a big deal- but it took hours to move us. Multiple calls until I finally sat at the front desk until they moved us- that took hours. Mt best guess is they never attempted to move us hoping we would give up. Once we moved, this was after 11;45, I started to get text messages from the rental company demanding I call them immediately. The text messages were assuring me they were helping my room switch/ so best I can assess- the staff there hoped I would give up and when I finally stood there making it uncomfortable, they put it into their system. They did eventually move us- and they did not up charge up for a different room. But the process was painful and unnecessary. If they had just moved us instead of the hours of song and dance- it would have been fine. Also note/ there is no fitness center currently- which we were only told upon check in.

I’ve been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years and my recent stay at the Trailhead Lodge was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. As soon as you walk in your room, the smell of ski socks, mold and old carpet greets every hair follicle in your nose and never lets go. I made my way to the window to get some fresh air but I couldn’t reach the handle without going through a nest of cobwebs. After inspecting the rest of the room I noticed that lint was literally pouring out of the washer dryer, which hadn’t been cleaned in weeks if not months. I was so exhausted from my trip that I went straight into bed. The sheets were so itchy and outdated I was unable to fall asleep. I felt like I was having a full body eczema attack and considered going to Walmart to buy some sheets. I have never considered buying sheets just to get a proper nights sleep before. Instead I checked out, cut my losses and found another hotel with twice the comfort and at half the price. And that was the best decision I’ve ever made.
