"Historical hotel on the Camino"

8.0

Room was nice. It is an older hotel with character. Was an old palace. Nice place to stay on the Camino.

Breakfast was 20 Euro pp. Bath was a tub/shower combo.

The position

No free bottle of water in room, to few facilities for a 4 star hotel comparative with other Paradors in Spain

"Not good for pilgrims"

6.0

The rooms and hotel have been nicely renovated. The building is wonderful and a good location in town and for the Camino.

Our welcome was lacking. We were asked for passports. They were photocopied and handed back with a key. Not one word spoken except no wine for Amigos because you booked on booking. No food available until 8.30pm and breakfast 8am for all but a tour group. Not allowed on terrace, my room was 26.5c and I was told to just open the window. We were not offered cooked breakfast and just one small pot of coffee for 5. Gluten free was hidden and I was given one bread and not allowed to choose any other items. We were asked at least times if we had paid... honestly treated like unwelcome guests. I could go on but this is enough for one evening. We love Parador hotels but I could not recommend this one.

Location was good

Breakfast was expensive and not worth it - very busy - food wasn’t refilled timely - floors and bed creaked - no coffee or tea in the room and couldn’t get just coffee in the morning small cafe was closed

"Good location, but maybe not the best choose for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago."

8.0

Centrally located near restaurants.

Kitchen was closed through the afternoon, so no meals available through the bar or room service until 2030.

"Very disappointing, lovely building but poor facilities and rude staff"

3.0

Great location, beautiful building

On arrival three members of staff were sat at reception, one said “passports” and we then stood in silence until they needed me to sign their paperwork, not even a hello - unbelievably rude. I asked if there was a lift - there’s not to the first floor - they said no but there was no offer of help with our case. There was neither tea and coffee making facilities or even drinking water in our room. Bar staff would not allow drinks on the terrace as it apparently didn’t open until May, even though people were sat out there in the sun. Dinner was poor at best and gave me an upset stomach, although my partner was fine. This is a 2 star hotel at best I’m afraid - we’re doing the Camino and have had much better stays in hostels. Very disappointing.
