Very tired and I dont know how this still gets 5 stars. Lovely property but very tired and run down. Seemed like limited staff trying to do it all and not getting there as a result.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at this hotel. The hotel grounds are very large and beautiful, with a swimming pool and a warm jacuzzi with hot water, which we really enjoyed. The breakfast was incredibly delicious, the interiors were elegant and stylish, and the dinner cuisine was excellent with a great selection of wines. We truly enjoyed everything and would be very happy to come back again!

Honestly, pretty disappointing overall. The château itself is beautiful, the surrounding nature and the region — with its sea of champagne — are wonderful, and the château’s chef is absolutely fantastic; the food was genuinely delicious.

But the rooms (we had three of them) smell overwhelmingly musty and old. Some of the bathrooms — especially on the upper floors — have almost no water pressure, and the bidet in Room 11 doesn’t work. There are swarms of mosquitoes, so you can’t really open the windows, but inside the air feels stale and hard to breathe. And the service is basically nonexistent. You carry all your luggage up and down the stairs yourself, and table service takes hours. All in all, a very strange experience. They really need to fix quite a few things there

THE POSITION OF THIS CHATEAU HOTEL IS SUBLIME WITH THE RUIN OF THE OTHER CHATEAU IN FRONT OF IT AND IN A QUIET UNSPOILT COUNTRYSIDE. THE HOTEL ITSELF IS BEAUTIFUL. THE ROOM WE HAD WAS LARGE AND OVERLOOKING COUNTRYSIDE.

I DON'T WISH TO SOUND HORRIBLE BUT TRYING TO BE HONEST...THE OWNER NEEDS TO INVEST IN THIS HOTEL HEAVILY NOW OR SHOULD SELL THIS WONDERFUL BUILDING. THE HOTEL PUSHES ITS '5 STAR' RATING HEAVILY ALONG WITH ITS 'GASTRONOMIC' RESTURANT - NEITHER OF WHICH ARE TRUE. IT IS HARD TO IMAGINE WHO GAVE THIS RATING! THIS HOTEL WAS PROBABLY GREAT ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO AND BEFORE BUT SADLY LITTLE HAS BEEN DONE TO UPDATE IT SIGNIFICANTLY IN A VERY LONG TIME. YOU SEE VERY ODD AND CHEAP STYLING CHOICES AND WE HAD A LEAK IN OUR BATHROOM CEILING FROM THE BATHROOM ABOVE, THE ARM CHAIRS IN OUR ROOM WERE THREADBARE AND GREASY AND THE COFFEE TABLE BADLY MARKED. THIS IS NOT A HOTEL WHICH YOU COULD FORGIVE FOR ITS FADED GRANDEUR, NO, THIS IS PAINFUL TO THE STYLE POLICE! THE DINNER WAS NOT GREAT AND THE WAITER TOOK OUR WINE AWAY TO THE CENTRAL ISLAND BUT DIDN'T SERVE IT TO US AGAIN THROUGHOUT OUR MEAL, WE WENT AND FOUND IT AND HELPED OUTSELVES. HE TOLD ME HE WAS TOO BUSY WITH OTHER TABLES TO SERVE US! BREAKFAST WAS NOT GOOD ON DAY1 WITH A LOT OF ITEMS HAVING RUN OUT BY 9.15. I HAD GREY DRY SCRAMBLED EGGS, FLOPPY CROISSANTS (COOKED FROM FROZEN) AND CHEAP ORANGE JUICE. DAY 2 BREAKFAST WAS BETTER WITH FRIED EGGS AND MORE STOCK. A LOT OF COBWEBS AROUND THE HOTEL - SUCH A SHAME. MOST OF THE STAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND WANTED TO DO A GOOD JOB BUT SURELY ANY ONE OF THEM COULD TAKE A DUSTER TO MAKE SURE EVERTHING IS AS IT SHOULD BE. THE SPA WAS CLOSED AND THEY HAVE INSTALLED A HOT TUB OPEN AIR AT AN EXTRA COST!!
