"Time warp 70's motel in the middle of nowhere, with little to recommend it"

6.0

The rooms are dated, clean and the buffet breakfast average but why would you want to stay here? We made a mistake and nearly cut our losses by simply leaving. It's located on a busy road, at least 15 minutes drive from montepulchano and at €60 per night, totally overpriced. Check out the possible alternatives on booking dot com and you'll see what I mean.

"More like a roadside motel"

4.0

We stayed for 2 nights whilst travelling around Tuscany. The hotel was very dated including the rooms but everything was clean to a high standard. We paid extra for a valley view which would have been beautiful except the valley view is also the view of the main road which the hotel is on! This was very noisy and meant we didn't really want to sit on our balcony to enjoy the valley view. The beds are not real beds but camp beds with a wooden frame around, this is not acceptable for a hotel..I may have expected this from a hostel. On the plus side breakfast was very good however there is so much choice for hotels in this area I would pick somewhere else.

"Tranquilidade"

8.0

"Our favorite hotel in Europe"

10.0

This place was perfect in many ways. Not only was it very clean with great accomodations, the owners were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and a lot to eat. Our spacious room had a balcony overlooking the beautiful valley. Our stay was so tranquel, with plenty to do in the nearby towns. It is a beautiful area of Europe, and we have traveled a lot. This past trip was 6 weeks in 5 countries. I will definitely return...and stay longer, maybe a week.

"Fint hotel"

6.0

Et fint hotel, der sagtens kan anbefales. Ligger lidt afsides og uden "liv" i området. Et minus at der ikke er pool (syntes drengene). Fin betjening.

"Exceptional"

10.0

The hotel was wonderful, our room exceeded our expectations and the staff was incredibly friendly. The only downfall to this hotel is that it is difficult to access unless you know EXACTLY where to go. We had an address, but it did not register with our GPS therefore it was incredibly difficult to find the hotel. It would be more helpful if on the site for the hotel there is a bit more direction for the guest.

"Perfect Homebase Location"

8.0

Hotel Sangallo was everything we could have hoped for in a Tuscan B&B. The view was incredible, the innkeeper was waiting for us when we checked in (quite late on a Saturday night) and we were free from disruption our entire stay. There is a bus stop immediately in front of the hotel and the innkeeper is happy to share the bus schedule (and explain how to read it) and they even went as far as taking us to a restaurant in their own cars, as the restaurant at the hotel is no longer in operation. Coffee was the best I ever had, never did we encounter an unclean sliver of the property, everyone was incredibly nice and hospitable and it was a great place to be. Things to note ------- *This property is not in the medieval city center of Montepulciano, and it is a distance too far to walk in the mid-day Tuscan sun (about 4 miles of winding roads, uphill the entire way, with no road shoulder to walk). *If coming via bus from the Chiusi train station, it is the VERY FIRST STOP in Saint Albino, and the property is immediately off the bus stop. Buses stop running at about 8:30 p.m. most nights, but my guess is that if you called the hotel and asked to speak with Nadia, she'd come and pick you up. *A note near the phone in the room says the hotel is open until 12:30 am, and if you need to enter the building after, you must call the reception desk. We arrived back at the hotel around 1:15 am one night and it was all lit up and we were able to get in no problem without calling. If you plan to be out later, might want to have a quick word with the innkeeper.

"Not bad, but you can do better..."

6.0

I stayed at the Hotel Sangallo with my wife and two children (aged 5 and 7 at the time). All in all, the experience wasn't bad, but neither was it particularly good. The owner of the Hotel was very friendly throughout our stay and showed us a couple of good places to eat that were fairly close by. We went with his recommendation and found it to be a good choice, and inexpensive as well. The hotel also actually has quadruples, which are extremely difficult to find in Europe, as a general rule. The prices are quite reasonable, especially for this region, and included breakfast, which was a buffet all-you-can-eat style. The proprietor also made coffee just for me when I requested it. The views over the countryside are nice as well. The bathroom in our room was typically European (i.e., small) but useable, and I did like that we actually had toiletries provided for us. On the down side, the hotel needs some updating...it's not bad, and quite frankly, that didn't put me off nearly as much as the beds, which I found to be terribly uncomfortable. The beds in our room were essentially just cots, although with (perhaps) slightly thicker mattresses. The room was quiet, as might be expected for a hotel that is away from the town itself (I'd guess about 3 or 4 miles from the town). The fact that it is not in the town centre may be a problem for some, although we had rented a car. All in all, it's a reasonable place to stay, but the beds really do give you a tough time of it.
