Château des Avenieres

Beautiful location. Superb food. Fantastic staff - both at reception and in restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Only complaints were lack of a blind on bathroom window and the high room temp - 26.5 deg c ! Apparently this was centrally controlled and we could not regulate it. Had to sleep with windows wide open.

The staff truly make this destination one to remember. While to property may not compare directly to a top tier Relais et Chateaux property for the smallest of reasons your experience and memories will be treasured for a long time. Delightful architecture, colourful history, a variety of dining rooms and amazing views of the Mont Blanc Massif make this a destination to add in yo anyone's calendar. The food was what you would expect from the brand, the staff were exceptional and yet the property still displayed a slightly casual and very homely feel. The beds were very comfy and even though the rooms were slightly on the small size because of the age of the property the decoration and fittings made up for what you might feel you missed.

Located in beautiful French Alps, this is one of those hotels you must experience. Staffs are wonderful. Sunrise and sunset are some of the most beautiful sights to behold (provided the weather permitted). A car is a must for this location. We stayed 8 days, and drove to many destinations from here. Mont-Blanc/Chamonix is 1 hour drive (check the cable left status before you go). Lyon is about 1 5 hour drive. I suggest don't drive to Lyon, we tried to find a parking space for an hour and gave up. Visit many Switzerland cities. Zermatt is a must, but it takes 4 hour driving. We have to stay in Montreux for one night. We wish we spent the money and stayed at the Zermatt for a night. Try the hotel restaurant. The Le M (57 Euro) is the best value. Duck is OK, little too salty for us. The veal is great. We went to the local supermarket (Carrefour) for our daily needs. Try foie gras from the meat counter. Some of the parking lot does not take credit card (very difficult to process), have coins ready to save some embarrassing moments.

The view was the best part. First, the castle hotel was above the clouds with only the Alps over Chamonix visible. Sometimes, Annecy was visible when some of the clouds lifted.

Wonderful stay

Everything about Chateau des Avenieres is a delight from the old world charm of its Chateau rooms to the totally modern chic of its Maison suites. My suite had a private rooftop terrace jacuzzi and an in room sauna for absolute luxuriation. The views of the Alps are beyond description and compliment the already serene ambiance of this property. The hosts are warm, engaging, and accommodating. Dining options are limited but exquisitely prepared. I can't wait to get back.

I personally have not stayed in anything like this, therefore I was wirtually overwhelmed by its nature, position and surroundings.

The hotel, its staff, restaurant were all great. The whole family enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

Our stay here was superlative. The view was fantastic, the hotel was romantic and idyllic, the staff was extremely attentive and helpful, the room was extremely spacious and comfortable. We only had the breakfast and everything was excellent and most was locally sourced. Especially try the apple juice. We are already planning our next visit for a longer stay.
