Hotel Hayk

Fantastic little hotel, the staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast was lovely and the room was spotless. The room was very spacious and the Rheine view was excellent. It was right near the main area for bars and restaurants but not noisy at night time, the Rheine ferry docks right outside and the lindt chocolate factory was a few mins walk. If we go back to Cologne them this would definitely be our first choice of place to stay.

The apartment was bigger than we thought and fit our family of 5 beautifully. The apartment was clean and the beds were very comfortable so we all got a great nights sleep. The hotel was very accommodating to us and helped us in various ways that made our stay less stressful and more relaxing. It is a great location, right off the Rhine River and central to the Chocolate Museum (which the kids loved) and the Cathedral. We were only in Köln for 24 hours, but it was a wonderful stop on our journey! We would definitely recommend this hotel and we would 100% stay there again. Thanks you Hotel Hayl for a wonderful experience.

Good place for short stay 1 night and if you are on budget. Centrally located, just on the river, walking distance to mamy sightseeing places. Old building and smells of mould

We were in Cologne during the heat wave. It was quite warm without AC but to be expected in Europe. Great location and super friendly staff!!

It’s tough to be negative if I’m honest. Room wasn’t attached to the hotel and was around the corner but didn’t dampen the experience at all. You go to Köln to experience the city and the hotel is to sleep at night. Personally we all thoroughly enjoyed everything so can’t be negative

Hotels.com should remove this hotel from the site. Given the pictures and description, this is classic false advertising. Upon check-in, we were directed to an annex building, about a block away. The building was under construction (which went on until 2:30 am) and the exterior hallway we had to enter from reeked of pee. We booked an apartment for 6 people, and were given one key. If one person went out with a key, they had to lock everyone else either in or out of the room and annex building. None of the included appliances were operational...rendering the "apartment" concept moot. Shower fluctuated between scalding hot and ice cold without warning. Beds squeaked and rattled every time someone moved. No wi-fi. When we asked the front desk attendant about it he was rude, telling us there was a problem with our phones rather than their wifi. Rooms not as pictured, rude staff, worst place I have ever stayed through hotels.com.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Roomy and we had everything we needed. Great location

Hotel receptionist put my card payment through in £ not € so I got rubbish rate and paid commission. He didn’t seem to understand that I should choose so not impressed. Also has no lift and very steep wooden spiral stairs not great for lugging luggage up and down. No WiFi in rooms either.

The hotel was brilliant, we thought the room would be small as the hotel front is small and narrow. Instead we were taken down the street to a separate building and the apartment was massive. It was for four people and was lovely and modern, all of the beds were extremely comfortable. It was located in a rather busy street that was close to some of the most popular nightlife so could be a little noisy and times but true brilliant value for money made up for it.
