Hotel Hayk

We are sooooo glad that we chose this hotel! We travelled by train and excited at the Cologne hbf (The main station). When you exit walk towards the river and stroll along the river path for approximately 7 minutes. When you see the KD River Tours take a right towards the restaurants and street. You will find the hotel. We stayed in the apartments. We had a mini fridge but no kitchen. It was a super clean 3 bedroom and 1 bathroom (Very tiny bathroom but we survived just fine). I believe the apartments are in all different buildings. Ours was in front of the Christmas Market and we loved it! It was 100 meters from the hotel. The people were kind and we had no issues at all. We walked everywhere since it was in the nice hub of the old district. We felt very safe!

The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. We had an apartment attached to the hotel which was comfortable and clean. The location is perfect to explore Cologne from. I would definitely recommend Hotel Hayk, and would stay again.

But the room smelt of smoke which was a real shame, as otherwise it was faultless.

We booked a family suite for 5 and were taken to an annexe 5 mins away with a 6 bedded, 3 bedroom apartment overlooking a lively square full of Italian restaurants, and a superb view of this from the 2nd floor. There was a fridge, kettle and filter coffee maker, just right for our one night in Koln. A central location just 10 mins walk from the magnificent Dom (Cathedral) and the main shopping centre. Lucky to get the very limited parking in this tourist-filled area for our van which is too tall for the multi-storey but I understand there's parking further away. We didn't sample the hotel service but the accommodation was comfortable and independent from the standard hotel atmosphere, so I would recommend this option.

We could walk from our hotel to all the main attractions or catch the tram which was very close by

Overall it was a good experience. The most unpleasant part of the stay was the fact the owner (man) of the hotel could not speak or understand hardly any english which made it tough to communicate.

Hotel was very well located on the riverfront and in the heart of the old town. Easy to walk to most central tourist attractions and close to shops, bars and restaurants.

But there is no internet in the other building and the main one has low internet speed

The hotel locates close to main train station, Cathedral and on the bank of Rhine River. Although the hotel is old and simply furnished, the owners did provide warm and good personal service. It was good value for the money, and I would return back to it if I visit Cologne again.
