The Close Hotel

Dinner was good. Lovely garden at the back Room was spacious and well presented Hotel is central and has parking which was valuable in Tetbury

We were brought a warm bottle of blush wine. When we asked to exchange it the bottle was taken away for chilling. No further drink was brought. When a new chilled bottle appeared 25 minutes later (that we had been told they didn't have..), 2 wine glasses worth were poured away as " we had had them". We actually hadn't had them - they too had been taken away...

Beautiful room, particularly the bathroom. Lovely terrace and lots of character.

Service was decidedly "quirky" with not always being greeted immediately, confusion over desserts, delays for coffee in the morning, not being asked if we wanted toast, table not completely set and so on. Also the breakfast bar was not very extensive, with nice pastries but no fresh bread and little cold food (cheese, etc.).

Location excellent if you are visiting Highgrove.

The room colour was a bit much and TV in an awkward position. No bath
