Faja dos Padres

What a nice and beautiful location! A real hidden gem. Our own house was very spacious and had two terraces facing the ocean. It is very well organized with the cable car to get there, the staff is very helpful. The ‘solarium’ on the pier is great and a relaxing place.

It was a pity our hot water hardly ever worked so we went a lot for the quick outdoor shower. Breakfast is okay but don’t count on the yoghurt. Eggs are sometimes very early and cold at the start of breakfast, the next day there is still nothing after 30 min. But it all made up with fresh warm bread and lots of nice fruit.

The place is like paradise! We will definitely come back.

Access to the seaside houses is by steep cable car. The cable car operator (at the top) was very very nice and helpful. He spoke English and coordinated my unusual requests. Our trip to Madeira was a surprise for my family of five, and no one knew that this property was at the bottom of a steep cliff or that a cable car was needed to get up and down. I rented the Tia Maria property for two nights (but it only sleeps 2 people for our family of 5), so I actually rented another place for two nights about 10 minutes away for the rest of us. When we got to the top, I walked my wife and daughter over to the top of the cable car area and the operator helped them get down to the bottom. My wife was confused and annoyed because she didn't know what was going on or what to expect. At the bottom of the cliff they were met by a staff member who walked them to the Tia Maria cottage. After they saw the location, they calmed down and saw the magic of the remote seaside/cliffside location. The next night, we switched, and I sent down my teenaged son and younger daughter. All of them were excited by the surprise location, the oceanfront accommodations, the dramatically steep drop, the cliffside view from their room and patio, the personalized service at the restaurant (breakfast - including gluten-free items). The cable car operator could have had difficulty understanding my plan to have different people stay on the property on different nights. He could have given me a hard time about changing guests each night. He may have balked at my unaccompanied teenage children being down at the bottom alone, or many other things... but he didn't. He was flexible and rolled with my plans. Thank you so much. Everyone thought that the adventure was amazing, the location was quiet and peaceful, the food was good at breakfast, the views were wonderful, and the price was very fair.

We liked everything about Faja dos Padres. The location is exceptionally beautiful, the food at the restaurant is wonderful - breakfast every morning by the sea, and local speciality dishes are served throughout the day. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially Nelyo who runs the cable car - he went out of his way all week to make us feel welcome. We walked through banana and mango groves to swim in the sea and felt like we had found a piece of paradise.

We stayed in Casa do Barco. It is a wonderful and idyllic house right at the seafront. The nearby restaurant was very relaxed and all personnel was very sympathetic. I absolutely recommend it!

My husband felt the mattress was uncomfortable but I was comfortable.

At first, the location feels amazing, and I must say it did amazed us. They have a grilling space, and your own private terrace with an ocean view. Banana plantations all around the territory and some private beach areas. The place is good to relax and enjoy the slow moments of life. The restaurant serves delicious dishes, but it's a little bit pricy. Regarding breakfast, it was delicious, nice that they had fresh mango juice. I really appreciate one cable car operator who welcomed us with homemade bread - thank you it was such a nice gesture. And I need to say it was super delicious. Another thank you for Fatima, she was the woman who welcomed us - you were the savior of the first day. We got just right on time to the restaurant and all the communication was very pleasant and warm.

Restaurant - closes around 5 pm, so no nice evenings during the sunset and having meals. Breakfast all mornings was the same and even it was tasty it was poor in options, but maybe it's a thing in the island. The staff should be more informative about where to sit and which area is for the ones who lives in the villas and for other tourists. We prepared a table for ourselves and when we sit down with our coffee and all the food on the table the waitress asked us to move to another table. She clearly saw that we were walking back and forth to bring everything, so it was not nice. What difference that makes early in the morning, were was no clients, just the ones who lived in villas. Location - need to say it was uncomfortable. The cable car works from 8 am to 7 pm, and latest ride is between 9-10 pm, so if you want to enjoy the island, you cannot. The only way is to pay extra for an operator to lift you up. So if you are planning hikes or catching a sunrise somewhere else, this place is difficult. Last day we needed and early lift up to get to the airport, so we paid extra. I know it's because someone is here for you at work earlier than usual but with the airport, it should be some exceptions keeping in mind that cable car is the only option to go up and down. Cleanliness - I left a towel on the bath as it was written on a note near the mirror. They didn't change it on the first day. The second day I found our beds not made up, the third day it was made up, but so poorly, that I can do better myself, the last day we found it all messed up. But it was our holiday with my fiance and I didn't want any conflicts, or use any energy for that. Small details make a difference. For the owner, I would more pay attention to it. Like little candles in the room, there was some left that was out from usage. And it could be nice to find some salt, oil or something that you don't usually buy along with the food during short holiday.

We loved the secluded location of the property. It was in a perfect location for us. It was relaxing, peaceful, and quiet. Our room was very clean and comfortable. And the surrounding area was beautiful.

The only option for food on the property shut down and stopped serving meals at a very early hour. This we found to be very inconvenient for us. Also, the breakfast provided was ok but we thought could be much more enjoyable even with just a few added items.

Amazing place away from people by the ocean. The views from the house were breathtaking and the sound of the ocean was peaceful. The system of using the cable car was good and we have no problem with getting to the location. Definitely recommended for relaxing holiday.
