"Snorkeling is the best."

10.0

This resort was under the construction of renewal when I visited. But the crew members and the food was great. Especially snorkeling of the front beach was the best I have ever had without going by boat.

"Cute but"

8.0

I’ve had a very pleasant experience. The rooms are great and the staff are amazing. They made me feel seen and special. The only thing is, there’s open buffet on breakfast, but there are unfortunately too many flies flying around and sitting on food. I was avoiding exposed food but I wish I could have it… safety concerns.. I’d suggest action (at least cover up) is needed to improve breakfast experience. Oh and check the bill during check out. I was overcharged but resolved everything with staff. Otherwise, can recommend

"My 5-night stay at OUTRIGGER Phi Phi Island Resort was honestly one of the most unexpectedly special resort experiences"

10.0

My 5-night stay at OUTRIGGER Phi Phi Island Resort was honestly one of the most unexpectedly special resort experiences I’ve had in Thailand. Before arriving here, I had just stayed at several other 5-star luxury properties throughout Thailand, and I had never stayed at an Outrigger property before, so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect — especially knowing the resort had recently gone through a rebrand and major renovation. Even before I arrived, I had a few logistical issues on my end regarding transportation and timing. The hotel responded to my emails almost immediately and helped coordinate everything quickly and professionally, which immediately lowered my stress level before traveling to Phi Phi. The moment I arrived by speedboat, multiple staff members greeted me warmly and helped with all my luggage. Walking toward the reception area, my first impression was that the property looked beautiful, peaceful, and incredibly well maintained. The landscaping was clearly brand new and thoughtfully designed, the white sand pathways were perfectly raked every day, and the entire resort had a calm luxury feel without trying too hard. The biggest surprise came when I entered my villa. From the outside, the villas are beautiful tropical-style structures, but the interior completely exceeded my expectations. The design felt modern tropical minimalist with warm wood finishes, soft indirect lighting, vaulted ceilings, natural textures, and an incredibly open and calming layout. The villa was massive, spotless, and designed in a way that instantly made me relax. Between the oversized patio, private beach area, ocean views, and indoor-outdoor feel, I honestly caught myself thinking multiple times: “I wish this was my home in Portugal.” What truly makes this property special though is the people. Every single person on the property — from landscapers to restaurant staff to housekeeping to concierge — greeted me warmly every single day. I’ve traveled enough to know that genuine hospitality is hard to fake, and the people here truly care. Everyone remembered my name, always smiled, and made me feel genuinely welcomed and taken care of throughout my stay. The renovations throughout the property are definitely a huge wow factor, especially the restaurant and main gathering spaces. The restaurant itself has an incredibly fresh, modern tropical design with beautiful lighting, natural wood textures, high ceilings, open-air energy, and a large covered patio next to the pool overlooking the beach. Now onto the food… I genuinely don’t know how to properly explain how good the food was here. I’ve eaten at Michelin-star restaurants around the world and honestly preferred many of the meals here. Watching the chefs display the fresh seafood and meats daily added such a cool experience, and the open kitchen gave the whole restaurant energy and transparency. Some of my favorites were: * The beef tenderloin * Tiger prawns * Green curry * Several traditional Thai dishes * Fresh seafood selections * Breakfast every morning, which was consistently incredible The quality, presentation, and flavor were outstanding. I ended up eating most of my meals at the resort because there was simply no reason to leave. And somehow the service matched the food. The spa experience also deserves special recognition. My reservation included a treatment, and normally I’m honestly not a huge massage/spa person — but I may have become one after this stay. The spa villas were beautiful, peaceful, spotless, and calming the second you walked inside. Tum greeted me with such kindness, offered me fresh juice, asked thoughtful questions about areas needing attention, and made the entire experience feel personal and relaxing. My massage therapist Varn was incredibly gentle, professional, and calming, and the experience was so relaxing that I immediately booked another treatment. My second massage with Teddy was equally amazing and one of the most relaxing massages I’ve ever had. I also spent several days scuba diving during my stay, and the new dive instructor Rhys was incredibly helpful getting everything organized for me. Beyond that, he regularly stopped by just to say hello and check in throughout my stay, which again speaks to the overall culture of hospitality at this resort. One other thing worth mentioning: the technology and communication here were excellent. The resort app was one of the best hotel apps I’ve used anywhere. Concierge responses were always fast, professional, and helpful. Honestly, I could probably write a short book about this stay. What stands out most is that while the resort itself is visually stunning after the renovations, the soul of the property is the people working there. That combination is what creates truly memorable experiences. Luxury is easy to build. Creating warmth, peace, and genuine hospitality is much harder — and this resort achieved both. The only minor thing I noticed was that a few villas appeared to still be receiving some finishing touches from the renovation process, but it looked like most of the major work was already completed and it never negatively impacted my stay. Thank you to everyone at Outrigger Phi Phi for making these 5 nights so memorable. I will absolutely be returning in the future.

"The Rebirth of a Legend: How Outrigger preserved the Soul of Zeavola"

10.0

I have been a devoted fan of this resort for many years, having first visited in 2008 when it was known as Zeavola. Its "Step Back to Simplicity" philosophy and "Barefoot Luxury" concept have always held a very special place in my heart. In May 2025, I was genuinely saddened to learn through social that Zeavola was closing its doors to be transformed into the new Outrigger resort. Now, after a year-long break, I had the unique honor of being the very first guest on the soft opening day - May 4th, 2026. It was emotional to return after the transformation, and my main concern was: would Outrigger be able to preserve the "soul" of this place? All websites featured only the renderings of the renovated Outrigger, not actual photos, so I had to see everything with my own eyes. In fact, the reality exceeded my expectations. Outrigger has carefully saved what I loved about Zeavola: the lush, dense greenery, the wonderful sand paths, the original teakwood villa frames and terraces, the traditional entrance groups, and even the water bowls for washing feet. Most importantly, what makes the transition from Zeavola to Outrigger truly seamless is the team. Much of the original staff has remained, and it was a pleasure to see so many familiar faces alongside new professionals. Satya and Andrew lead the way in the restaurant, providing outstanding service and an incredible dining experience (and the coffee here is simply the best). Rhys, the Dive Center Manager, is a true professional whose recommendations and guidance for sea excursions made for a fantastic adventure. The spa team and massage therapist Teddy provide an incredible massage experience (currently in a dedicated villa while the spa complex is under renovation). The villa interior renovation, as well as the public areas, is a colossal step forward. The villas have been completely reimagined - the fresh design is a joy to the eye with light interiors and thoughtful decor, and the materials feel high-quality, durable, and incredibly tactile. The villas now feature very quiet ceiling fans and Daikin AC units, excellent new bathroom equipment, massive sliding doors, and premium sleep comfort. While the interior teak flooring is gone (it remains on the outdoor decks and will be kept in the spa complex), this didn't feel like major loss given the scale of the upgrade. Although this is a soft opening (as of May 4th, 2026) and some areas are still being finalized - such as certain villas, the spa complex, the dive center, and the breakfast restaurant - many features are already open. The stunning new beachfront pool with sunbeds, the new fitness center (next to the original old pool), and the new restaurant with an open terrace and direct sea views all look magnificent. Huge thanks to the General Manager, Chris, for his leadership. He has managed to give this iconic resort a "new breath" while preserving the peace and tranquility that I, as a regular guest, value so much. I will definitely return to the new Outrigger once the full renovation is complete, it is again my favorite resort in Thailand.

"A really truly special experience"

10.0

The newly renovated Outrigger Phi Phi Island makes your holiday an unforgettable experience. The rooms are beautiful, expansive and very comfortable. A delight. The amenities include a modern well-equiped gym, pools, spa & massage centre, restaurant, and so much more. The restaurant deserves special mention, with Chef Satya at the helm, the food is beautifully presented and confectioned to perfection, sure to delight your taste buds. Any special dietary requirements are happily attended to. The drink selection is equally excellent, as is the service. The boat trip was special too, with a small group and a fast boat, taking you to Maya Bay and several other places (timed to avoid the crowds as much as possible). Service was exceptional around, very personal, warm, helpful, and attentive to your every need. Already thinking of the next time!

"Nice place, needs some improvement"

6.0

Outrigger Phi Phi Island Resort is located on Laem Tong Beach. The sand is soft, the water is clean. The garden is clean, but old. 30 minutes on the boat, tired. Breakfast is good, lunch is good and dinner is cheap. The staff is cheerful, but the pool bar is late. It is possible to snorkel, but things are more expensive. There is peace, but it would be better to do something new. Perfect for those who want a vacation.

"Reserved, Paid and then they cancelled without any reason"

2.0

We reserved our room, paid in full (etc)....... and then our booking was cancelled without any reason or any contact. I raised the cancellation with the website and no response was forthcoming from Zeavola (now known as Outrigger). Looks lovely, but shame that they cancelled without reason or contact.
