Holmwood House Hotel

Really enjoyed our stay , wanted to take the bed and mattress home with me, a couple of things needed tlc ( shower holder) but didn’t spoil anything at all . Breakfast superb 👍 Will be back

Stay was ok, had to ring the numbers to get the receptionist there. The fan is a noisy nuisance and had to switch off from side of room, each time had to use the loo. The bathroom door was damaged and very difficult to close as was the room door and to main entrance door after 9pm to open. No working lock on toilet door. Hearing went off too early in morning. Breakfast was good.

Great value hotel excellent breakfast choice would stay again

All the staff were lovely and friendly. Our room was small but cosy. Everything was clean and smelt fresh. The Wi-Fi was included and had good signal. The heating was constantly on in the annex we stayed in so ended up having to open the window to let fresh air in as it got too hot. The window was also impossible to open for anyone like myself who is disabled. There was parking on site. The breakfast was fantastic, very tasty.

The car park is a good size for the location, the hotel scores highly mainly due to the staff, who without exception are all very friendly and helpful. I would only stay again because of the team running it.

The staff were friendly and helpful The breakfast was brilliant ,The furniture in the room is old furniture but we loved that because it adds character to the room , we were in annexe 1 room it was a superior double room and it was lovely to stay there we would recommend this hotel to everyone

The hotel was very clean and nice with a lounge area for patrons use. The breakfast was well presented with a good choice of food. The cooked breakfast was cooked perfectly. The only criticism I have is that the stairs were narrow and steep and there were lots of them! This was offset by the fact that there is free on site parking and you can catch a bus outside that takes you into York.

Good location for walking. The staff said breakfast cost extra unless we had requested it at the time of booking. It came with the room.

I was surprised to find the hotel closed when I arrived after 8pm, but a staff person came back to check me in. There are LOTS of steep stairs to the bedrooms in the annex - no elevator and no assistance, so if you have big bags, beware.

Very friendly. Ideal location to walk into the City. On site parking a bonus. Lovely breakfasts.
