Tanes Hotel

No breakfast being served or offered, beds were comfy but pillows large, I prefer feathers to poly filled, personal choice. Main road into Cardiff so busy at times. Food availability close by.

Pillows to big for me.

Free parking at the rear. Lady who greeted us was lovely.

No elevator only stairs.

Das Zimmer war groß und die Betten sehr bequem. Es gab ein Sofa und die Möglichkeit Tee und Kaffee zu kochen. Das Bad war sauber und groß genug und es gab auch einen Spiegel mit Beleuchtung. Die MitarbeiterInnen sind alle sehr freundlich gewesen. Auf dem Parkplatz war immer genug Platz frei für unser Auto. Es war alles sauber und ordentlich. Direkt vor dem Hotel befindet sich eine Bushaltestelle von wo man bequem nach Cardiff Zentrum fahren kann.

Der Weg zum Parkplatz ist gewöhnungsbedürftig. Man erkennt ihn nicht direkt als solchen. An einem Tag wurde unser Mülleimer im Bad nicht geleert. Frische Handtücher gab es jeden Tag. Insgesamt gab es zu wenig Schränke. Es gab lediglich einen kleinen, schmalen Schrank für 2 Personen. Und sonst kaum Ablagefläche.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. We arrived early and our rooms were ready which was perfect. The location to the centre was a 35 minute straight walk which was fine. The staff were very welcoming.

The only negative was the price. Because an event was on in the principality stadium all hotels wack the price up . Tanes hotel is normally £59 we were charged £254. I don’t blame them but all hotels rip people off when events are on.

The owner was pleasent enough on arrival, indeed let ne in an hour early but.... when I spoke to her later, regarding the matter of not being able to lock my door, I was dismussed with " a casual reply

Lots. No mention of lots of stairs on the site, no help with luggage 4 uneven stairs,( I stumbled twice because of it.) Once I got to my room key would not unlock door, had to get cleaner to let me in as I couldnt manage to go straight back down, I had already tripped on an unmarked step on the way up. Was not made aware at time of booking that single room had SHARED toilet and shower down the corridor, the toilet waa no bigger than an airing cupboard. When I went to leave at 4 ish, I made the owner aware of the lock problem, she just laughed and dismissed it " o its been like it for ages, we tried changing the lock but it still doesnt work. Have you left your stuff in? I had managed to lock it eventually after at least 5 goes but it was very stressful If you cant get in when you get back you will have to come back down ( 4 flights of stairs) and ring the bell . I told her it would be after 11pm ( her cut off time -for being on duty which is fair enough, but there was no way I could be back by then) she just said still ring it. This meant that I worried all evening about getting back in. When I did get back it took about 20 mins to get back in, I then was too scared to lock the door and get stuck in there . So I had to put a chair up against the door to prevent anyone getting in, a sleepless night ensued. Especially as I had noted that the fire doors on each floor were permenantly wedged open the whole time I was there. The main hotel rooms, ie, hall, stairwells, public areas looked tired and worn but the bedroom I was in was ok and was clean but had a cracked sink. The local area around the hotel was unkempt and ( i did not feel good walking but could not get taxi) it was much further out of town, took over 25 mins to walk. I had asked if the area was safe and I didnt get a straight awnser.

Shared bathroom not ideal but all very clean . The bed in room 5 was very uncomfortable needs replacing .

It was very quiet and clean. Staff were lovely and I liked how it was made homely in the rooms.
