Crab & Boar

We booked the property due to its proximity to Newbury showground and the fact that it was dog friendly. It did not disappoint! The staff were super friendly, the room has its own courtyard which was super helpful for the dogs to be able to go outside and for us to sit out of the weather was nice, and the bar and restaurant are also super dog friendly (with even a basket of toys for them to borrow whilst we ate). The room felt very luxurious, with tea, coffee, biscuits and water freely available and a gorgeous bathroom with delightful products to use. The food in the restaurant was absolutely divine and felt like a real treat.

The only thing I would have liked would have been an earlier start time for breakfast - breakfast starts at 8am which was too late for us but that is totally an ‘us’ problem!

Litt tungvint å måtte gå ut for å finne rommet! Langt fra Newbury, for oss som reiste uten bil ble vi avhengig av taxi. Støy fra biltrafikk på rommet.

Rude, unattentive staff (one in particular). Food was very disappointing and we complained. My birthday meal ruined unfortunately. Busy road (Chapel Wood room). Not fully clean room (champagne Cork left from previous guests on the floor)

Staff are always polite and helpful. Lovely room and very dog friendly.

Nicely furnished room with large bathroom

Restaurant closed at 6pm on a Sunday night so no food after a 4 hour car journey. Drove a further 15 miles round trip to get food. Bar closed too when we returned at 8pm. These closures should be flagged on the site or at least pointed out on the confirmation email. Ruined what would have been an enjoyable stay. Had we known there would have been no restaurant open we would not have booked.

Beautiful location, very quiet and a gorgeous building inside and out. Friendly, patient and helpful staff too!
