Hill house Hotel

We chose the Hill House Hotel (HHH) for our stay based on location, price and reviews. We stayed 9 nights (not consecutively) at HHH. The location was great as it is a 3-minute walk to the subway, bus stops, Namdaemun Market and Myeongdong Market is just down the road. We wanted an inexpensive, safe, reliable place to stash our stuff and sleep. The hotel shows its age, but is clean and comfortable. The internet was fast and consistent. The room was a good size for 2 people. The bathroom included a bathtub, which we found to be rare even in more expensive hotels. The room includes a refrigerator which was stocked with 2 bottled waters every day. The beds at HHH are very firm. They feel more like a box spring with a pad on top than a mattress. If you like a firm bed, you’ll probably be fine. If you like a lot of padding, maybe they can provide extra. We didn’t ask. I slept fine. My wife asked for more pillows and placed them strategically. If they were to upgrade their mattresses, the place would be absolutely amazing for the price. HHH offers a breakfast that includes cereal, toast, hard-boiled eggs, dumplings & gravy, milk & juice. Compared with other budget hotels that offered a free breakfast, HHH offered more variety. A couple of nice extras: They have a scale in the lobby to weigh luggage. They also allows travelers to store extra luggage in their lobby if you want to take a side trip/tour but don’t want to take all of your suitcases on the road.

Checking in was easy and hassle free. Front desk was helpful too, with toruist maps and directions readily available. Room/bed/toilet were clean, and kept clean daily by friendly staff. Got discounted rate from a travel site, twin room was quite affordable. The way to the hotel is sloping up, but not a big issue. It's located near Namdaemun Market and N Seoul Tower, and close to a bus stop and subway station. This is a good choice.

I went to Seoul 30/7/2018 it's very hot!!! This place is good for travel around Numdaemun and Seoul Tower. We can walk to cable (Seoul Tower).

Hotel hill house is the OG of Seoul, its cheap, its beautiful, location is SUPER close to myeongdong & dongdaemun & Namsan tower! Literally in walking distance! Staff is super friendly and speak English well and are SUPER helpful. I'd honestly love to get this service everywhere, it wasn't a luxury hotel but with the service we felt so special! We couldn't figure out the a/c and they came and explained it all to us, and we got locked out of our room and they helped us, they watched our bags, and helped us with all our needs! Not to mention how cheap this place is! And the rooms are huge!

I had 2 stays at this hotel, and enjoyed it.

Nice hotel close to everything (shops, restaurants, coffee shops, bank for money changer). A little ran down but very clean. Staff understands and speaks English well and very helpful. Bathroom size is pretty descent. Continental breakfast was okay (bread, dumplings, soup, cereal, boiled eggs, coffee and juice) nothing fancy but enough for a short stay (same everyday). The lady at the breakfast area is so helpful and very friendly. The only drawback is it's a little uphill and kind of hidden so to get a taxi you have to do a short walk which is not convenient when it's too hot outside.

The hotel isn't too far away from the big shopping centres and train stations. It's also quite close to the cable car that takes you to Namsan Tower

The location is awesome. It’s in a great spot and close to a lot of popular sights. The beds were very hard. We had to ask for an additional pad to put on. The lady that runs the breakfast during the week is very friendly and helpful. The front desk gentleman that works midday is very helpful, the rest, not very friendly or helpful.

Download the Korean Naver maps cause googlemaps isn’t very good in Korea. Googlemaps will tell you walk right through buildings! This hotel offered a good price for length of stay, comfort and breakfast included every morning. It’s a short walk across the big roads to myeongdong if you plan to stay around that tourist area. There are plenty of restaurants and a couple of handy convenience stores just downstairs from the hotel. Staff are friendly. However, breakfast have a very limited option and is the same every day.

Good
