Ascott Raffles City Beijing

Staff gave excellent service, from the porter's that took care of your luggage at the off street entrance, up to spacious level 6 lobby, where the courteous and professional reception staff greeted our arrival (plus help you with all your needs 24/7) next to the pool, gym & breakfast room. after which you & luggage will be taken to your apartment, which is clean, spacious and well appointed, large refrigerator, washing machine-dryer, microwave, cooktop, oven & everything you need. Located on one of the major subway lines which could also be accessed from the 2nd basement level of the attached shopping mall with a multitude of food options, from excellent restaurants to takeaways, convenience stores over 6 levels of retail shops. All distinctly separated from the serviced apartments but easily accessed through a secure entrance at ground level. With another huge subterranean shopping mall just across the street, this a excellent location with local hutongs to explore, nearby attractions, restaurants or a short wait for a taxi-DiDi (like 30 seconds only, plus super cheap) or a 3-5 minute wait for the subway that connects you to all of Beijing, airport and the rest of China by the high speed rail, they really know how to build things here...

The breakfast was fine but could have been hotter & had some more Chinese food.... like the little meat filled buns or the shredded potato wrap things, that we got on our early morning exploration of the nearby streets, for like 3 Yuan each

We stayed in Ascott Beijing for several times, since the last couple of our visits in Beijing. We really enjoyed the location, which is very convenient to everywhere (right by the 2nd ring road, with easy access to a shopping mall, and subway line 2). This unique advantage becomes a huge plus, especially when it comes to winter time. The staff at the reception desk are just so perfect, who show great professionalism and always nice and friendly to help us address all sorts of questions. We greatly appreciate all their hard work and efforts devoted in making our each time stay so pleasant and memorable! We also want to extend our thanks to the morning restaurant crew members - their positive energy always made our day, with happiness starting from each morning, breakfast time. What I like the most about this hotel, overall, is the sense that every staff is working hard to build a strong and positive local community, their sense of ownership of this brand, and their great efforts in making their customers really feel that they are at home.

Out of these many stays with Ascott in the past few years, we noticed that there has been many upgrades done to the hotel rooms (e.g., the toilet seat, the humidifier in the room, and the purified water system), which is so great and appreciative. It is also quite clear to us that the management group cares about customer's experience during their stay. If I were to make another suggestion, I'd suggest that the management team may consider check the quality of your mattresses and perhaps consider upgrade them. Out of the rooms we stayed so far, they all appeared to be too soft, didn't provide enough of back support during each night, so we oftentimes found ourselves waking up with a sore and tight back. I'm not sure if anyone ever share this information with the management team, or this may not even be an issue to young people. But I'd say that people who are in the mid-age, and/or elderly, would greatly appreciate better mattress quality and sleeping quality.

Breakfast was excellent. Good variety of food. Good hours available.

The tea is not free inside the apartment. Should make a note inside the room next to the tea container so we are aware.
