Drury Plaza Hotel Flagstaff

Check in staff was great. Love the comeback and breakfast options. Parking in garage was easy but a bit of a walk for the kids. Nice property and room size was great.

Nothing not to like

Had never stayed at a Drury Hotel before but I must say as a Hilton Diamond (primary) and Marriot (as a secondary) frequent consumer I wanted to give Drury a try and what we found is that my wife and I very much like their concept. Parking was free and secure, the hotel is in a quiet and safe area, breakfast was varied and plentiful, and the room was laid-out well and clean. It reminded a little of Embassy Suites but Drury felt more new and upscale. We will use Drury properties again in a heartbeat. The only reason I didn’t give it a ‘5’ rating was because they have a 5:30 - 7:00 pm ‘kick-back’ social every night that includes free food (which was good) and up to (3) alcohol beverages per person. The first two nights (of 4 nights we were there) they had no red wine at all (although it was published on their ‘offerings’ card & is a very popular drink and I questioned how they could run out of it - with no good answer). And I couldn’t understand why they would be completely out on BOTH Saturday & Sunday nights - just send someone down to the grocery store to buy some! They were back in stock on Monday, but it’s the fine details that count in the customer experience. All that being said we really liked this place and would highly recommend.

This is a nice hotel. Stay here. The rooms are like most others, but spacious. I asked for a room with a shower and the front desk girl offered an accessible room because of my arthritis. The hotel has a nice lobby, with different seating areas and fireplaces (which weren't running tho). They serve a really decent free breakfast and a bonus was that at 5:30pm they served food advertised as "snacks" but there was enough there to put a whole meal together, plus hot dogs for kids. The eating area extended past the usual room, there were little seating areas all over and even on each floor. If you took your food up to another floor you didn't have to take the used plates back down as they had a place to leave them. Con: Beds weren't real comfortable. And I'm not real short - 5'4" tall -- but I literally can't get into them. My husband has to extend his arm, I grab on and he pulls me onto the bed (he thinks this is fun)! I'm running into this at more and more hotels. And the biggest con: even tho at night it was only 34 degrees, the room was so stuffy and hot that we had to turn the air conditioner on. The a/c unit sounded like the engine room in the Titanic and I got little sleep. It obviously needed maintenance. The hotel is right at the end of the NAU campus, and close to Flagstaffs Old Town section. Younger people could walk there from the hotel. There was also a free parking garage. The front desk people were very friendly and helpful. You could chose not to have maid service and its "cost" would go to rewards points. More and more hotels are trying to charge you for maid service. So we had to hang our towels to dry them and go to the front desk for more toilet paper. Flagstaff is very much a college town and much of their Old Town section was devoted more to bars and hang out restaurants then to cute shops.
