Hotel Residence - Amalfi

Hotel Residence was a beautiful hotel eight iff the main street, we could on our balcony and watch the ferries take off and see the beautiful ocean. It was like a dream, the staff were wonderful and so helpful and the room was beautiful and looked like it had been recently renovated, the breakfast buffet was delicious and we could sit and look out at the beautiful ocean. It was right in the middle of Amalfi, where we could walk out the front door,turn right and the Piazza was right there with shops, restaurants and the beautiful Duomo. There could not be a better hotel to stay in that was so beautiful right n the middle of everything. If you are in Amalfi, stay at the Hotel Residence, you will love it!!

I don't have words for this amazing hotel. Service was outstanding! Antonio, Andrea and Vittorio were super helpful. Every recommendation they gave us from the restaurants to beautiful walks in the morning (and wise counsel on hiking), all recommendations were considerate and appropriate for what we were looking for and more. Room so clean and beautiful and the restaurant and service there is excellent. We will come back as soon as we can. Thank you all!

Great staff. Great location. Excellent breakfast. Nice rooms. Good value.

Nice building in a privileged position but there it ends unfortunately. We spent five nights here and were well ready to move on. Our bedroom was large but sparsely furnished with furniture in poor condition. The mattress could well have been from the 18th century and filled with horse hair. The en-suite badly needs updating, we were climbing in and out of a corner bath and having to sit down to shower with a handheld shower head head because there was no curtain or shower head holder, not a great experience and how anyone older than ourselves manage, God only knows. The breakfast was most disappointing, worst 4 star offering we have ever come across. Three choices of bread, two types of pastry’s, small box of CoCo Pops or fruit salad consisting of apple, apple and oh yes…apple. Three fruit juices, tea & Coffee. Your only choice of hot food was freshly cooked eggs, boiled or fried! We were allowed out onto the exterior breakfast balcony one day out of the five. “Happy to help” staff would have been nice, don’t get me wrong, they did what we asked but it seemed to us that it hurt them to do it. Four star position with 2 star interior.

Excellent hotel with excellent service ! The staff are all kind and go out to great lengths to make the guests’ experience special !

The location is near the transport

I had the great misfortune of being in town on November 30th where at just after midnight, we were violently awakened to a barrage of fireworks and random explosions that lasted until 5:07 in the morning. Unbeknownst to me at the time, November 30th is a holiday in Amalfi for the patron Saint Andrew (Sant'Andrea) and the celebration begins at midnight and continues with various festivities throughout the day. All of that is fine and I totally get it, I mean, no one is going to complain about a celebration for a saint! But to not be informed of it at check-in and to be left completely baffled as to what in the hell was going on in the middle of the night is unforgivable. Further, to not offer an apology or even an acknowledgement is equally shameful. At the very least, with proper notification, we could've altered our days in Amalfi to avoid losing an entire night's sleep while on vacation. I chose Hotel Residence specifically because of its outstanding online rating and didn't even blink at the cost. But the lack of communication on something so significant as a five hour fireworks celebration in the middle of the night is egregious and a clear nonfeasance by the hotel staff and ownership. It's as if it never happened. And no, to this day we still have not been offered an apology or even an acknowledgement.

I love this hotel, the rooms and the location

This is probably the best hotel in amalfi. We had a sea facing view and were right in front on the bus stop and ferry station. The only negative we found was it did not have AC on since we were visiting in Novemeber which is a bit odd for a 4 star hotel to have amenity like AC determined based on the weather outside. We are used to having AC at night. But overall I would not recommend any other hotel but this one for your stay in Amalfi and I would stay here again if visiting here.
