Tocen Goshoboh

I had an amazing stay at this ryokan. The staff were absolutely wonderful – very friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were simply outstanding, both in taste and presentation, and felt like a real highlight of the stay. I also really appreciated that they carefully took my fish allergy into account and replaced all dishes containing fish with delicious alternatives. I also really enjoyed the hot onsen; it was clean, beautifully maintained, and very relaxing. Overall, everything was spotless, stylish, and carefully arranged, which made the whole experience truly memorable.

Very old and tired hotel, 3 stars max (5 star reference on booking com is not reflecting reality). Rooms are spacious but uncomfortable. Small windows, AC at the floor level, plus heat from the 40+ degrees onsen on the second floor mean it's hot and stuffy in the room. Old sagging furniture and mattresses, hard and uncomfortable pillows, smelly over-used bathroom. Kaiseki dinner is not worth the money, there are much better restaurant options in town. Rough communication style of the reception staff. I guess, the property did have its glory days in the past, it is really not living up to its history now. Not value for money.

Great atmosphere. Fantadtic and delicate food. The hot spring was really enjoyable, too.

Furniture a bit old, could have some newer while the old style vibe. Overall though a very nice experience.

It doesn't have showers in the rooms. The only way to shower is by sharing the Onsen with other people.
