It was cozy. Very well kept inn.

The gardens had so much charm.

The Captain's House is quietly--but utterly--charming. We stayed in one of the more modest rooms and found it perfectly prepared. Breakfast the next morning was all you could ask for--and more. Most of all, the extensive grounds surrounding the main buildings exude a sense of beauty and tranquility. As you eat your breakfast in this gorgeous setting (windows everywhere, lawn and trees sparkling), you're reluctant to leave, and you feel how good life can be. Lovely place!

Everything about the property was five stars! The location was great. The room was exceptionally clean. The little details were appreciated, such as bottled water and snacks in the room including robes. The breakfast was amazing with great selections and homemade banana bread to start. Rachel and Heidi were so pleasant and helpful. You can tell they enjoyed working there. We weren’t able to make the afternoon tea unfortunately this time. In the evening, there were fresh baked cookies and complementary Port and Sherry in the library. It was a nice way to wind down at the end of the day and play backgammon or chess in a lovely environment. There’s so much history in this property. We felt so welcomed and comfortable and will definitely return. We stayed in the Wild Pigeon room which was a beautiful. The bed and linens were so comfortable. We enjoyed watching movies by the fire while it rained outside. We were so happy that we found the Captain’s House Inn!!
