Ryokan Hirashin

A lovely gem in a very central and safe location in Kyoto. The staff knew what I wanted and even took extra steps to help me maximize my stay, like calling my room when I'd forgotten about the breakfast I'd booked. It's a quick bus or subway ride from Kyoto Station, and I will certainly come back for another stay.

Room big n comfortable. Room heating condition good. Shower room floor should have non slip tiles.

Nice classic Ryokan in the middle of everything!

Very close to Nishiki Market and restaurants

This Ryokan is very well located and at walking distance to many of the highlights of Kyoto. The staff is very helpful and nice, and the traditional Japanese breakfast good. However, expect a Ryokan which needs a good amount of refresh (for example very basic bathroom, holes in our bedroom walls and screens, hallways which would benefit for new paint, only one washing machine,…).

Horrible experience. The lobby is the only nice part of this ryoken. Stains everywhere, the room smelled like it hasn’t had fresh air in months, the AC didn’t work, and foulest smelling “closet” I have ever smelled. We spent one of four nights and got another place to stay. Outdated doesn’t cover how dirty this place is.

It was nice. Small but that’s all Japanese hotels. Really enjoyed the onsen.
