Hotel San Roque

Gorgeous property in a central location. The sauna and pool were amazing, and the rooftop terrace was a beautiful spot to watch the sunset.

I don’t think there is an elevator, but the staff will carry your bags to and from your room. There are also rooms on the first floor if you need an accessible room.

It’s a beautiful building, tastefully decorated, with a small but nice swimming pool, the terrace area was lovely, and the staff friendly and welcoming and very efficient. Breakfast was good with a selection of dishes including freshly cooked eggs bacon etc

Bit quiet and lacking in atmosphere, but perhaps that’s the type of guests that go to small boutique hotels, (no one acknowledges each other and it’s all hushed conversation, not our usual style) and nothing to do with the hotel.

I have just returned from a week at this Hotel and was lucky enough to stay in the clocktower suite. Here is my unbiased review. The location is stunning - Garrachico is the old capital and is full of culture as well as seriously top class eateries. You will be spoilt for choice for eating out. The Hotel is very central to the town square and local shops, bars and restaurants. While I was there a lot of the shops and bars were closed as it was technically out of season but there were still plenty that were open. The Hotel itself is very quiet and we were the only English couple there. Apart from the odd "good morning" at breakfast you will barely see your fellow guests so its not a place for socialising. It is incredibly quiet and there is no bar so no "hub" to meet your fellow guests in the evening to chat. The eating area is by the pool with only a few tables and so there is no restaurant as such. We had dinner there on our first evening and the meal was perfect but the Hotel lacks ambiance and atmosphere. The reception areas, although beautiful are mainly empty for most of the time. Our room was spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water etc and the bed was super comfortable with soft, white bed linen. There are no lifts here and so there are a lot of stairs and our room in the clock tower had a spiral staircase that would not be easy for anyone with mobility issues. I felt that it was a bit penny pinching for a Hotel of this calibre and cost to charge for water however you can buy water much cheaper at the local supermarket. We wanted a tour of a local winery and the reception staff went out of their way to find a perfect trip for us that was really enjoyable so they are there to help and are friendly and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble. There is a small sunbathing area however the swimming pool is very small, more like a plunge pool and not big enough to do any serious swimming. Its supposed to be heated but for me it was very cold so I only dipped myself in once. If you are vegetarian you will struggle and vegans will probably starve!!! Nothing is labelled and so its very difficult. As a vegetarian I found there was limited choice both at the Hotel and surrounding eateries and vegans will find it a struggle.

A wonderful 5 night stay in the beautiful town of Garachico. Unspoilt and well serviced with some top restaurants / the best of which was in the hotel!

Nous avons adoré l’authenticité des lieux, l’accueil et le soin du personnel à tout instant, la terrasse, le patio, la piscine et la cuisine… même les produits à disposition (shampooing, body lotion…) sont d’une qualité exceptionnelle.

Spotlessly clean. Amazing staff. Great restaurant. New pool.

Parking can be a challenge depending on when you arrive.

Excellent location, beautiful building and a lovely pool.

Room was very dark, furnishings felt tired and the breakfast was very basic.

Wonderful traditional hotel, very friendly and helpful staff.

Rooms a bit dark, but they are traditional and from a pre-aircon era so windows would have been small to keep things cool (the rooms do have aircon now!).

It was delightful, peaceful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. If you want somewhere quiet on the beautiful north coast, you would certainly enjoy your stay.
