Mercure Barossa Valley

Very good location, with clean rooms however the walls of the room are paper thin - can literally hear every single sound, conversation, and actions in the adjacent rooms. Not great for relaxing.

We booked a room that was listed as having a kitchenette. On arrival and after we had paid, we went to our room. The room that they had given us only had a refrigerator and a kettle. We went back to reception and showed the staff our paperwork that said we had a room with a kitchenette, and they told us that the room that we were given was their version of same. In any accommodation we have stayed in a kitchenette is a small compact cooking area that contains a refrigerator, sink, microwave, usually a toaster and has a few plates and basic cutlery. The front office manager was very rude and told us that it was not the fault of Mercure but Booking.com. and there was no responsibility on Mercure. When we complained she said we could be upgraded if we would pay more money. We did not think it was our fault and did not believe we were responsible for the additional cost. During the whole conversation she was very rude and abrupt with us and then when we did not agree with her proposal she accused us of being aggressive which we were not. We then asked for a refund to which she said we could have one, but we would have to forfeit the first nights' accommodation fee. We told her that as she could not fulfill the contract as per our paperwork from Booking.com that we were entitled to a full refund. Eventually she agreed to give us a full refund. The whole experience was disgusting and uncalled for. Regardless of whether she could have changed the rooms it was the way we were treated and under those circumstances I would not recommend this Hotel not will I ever stay with that company again.

All in all was a great stay and positive experience - we would stay again. Only notes would be 1. It would be good if the hotel had a few more umbrellas on hand for guests to borrow/rent on a rainy day - especially given minimal shelter to move from rooms to reception; 2. Rooms don’t have a full length mirror in them - the only mirror is the small round vanity one in the bathroom; 3. Would be good if the hotel established a relationship with local transport (especially buses that are too large to enter the site) to confirm which runs are for which events - reception we’re unaware which event each bus was there for so I had to walk out to the bus on the road from reception in the rain to check, thankfully was the right bus - and/or on rainy days would be good if they had a service to take guests out to transport on the road. I was attending a wedding, transport by bus, and there was no way to get to the bus under cover, and no umbrellas available, so my only choice was to run through the rain (with my hair/makeup done and in heels) to get to the bus - not ideal!; 4. The flooring in the rooms looks great (is a hybrid wood/laminate floor), but would suggest some rugs be added for comfort, warmth and sound insulation. We were on the bottom floor, and were woken early by the guests above us walking around in their room, and floors were cold when we arrived back late at night. Check-in/out experience was great but I also never received a response on Booking.com to my request to check in earlier. The room was lovely and clean and staff were generally friendly. We did not eat or drink at the hotel so no feedback there. We really appreciated the free bottled water when arriving home from the wedding.

Great location in the heart of the Barossa Valley. The staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was fabulous.

Access to Stan TV. Good shower and comfortable bed.

The flooring was lifted in different places, and it needs to be fixed as the fridge door got stuck triping hazard in different areas

Staff were great: friendly and helpful. The bed was large and comfortable and we enjoyed the dinner special when we ate in. There was a reasonably good selection of breakfast food. It was a good location, easy to find and quiet. A nice surprise to have the welcome pack of a bottle of wine n chippies.

We found the hot breakfast food was cold. We would have liked more movie channels.

Light spacious room with excellent proximity to tanunda and other areas of barossa. Lovely cafe/restaurant space

The room wasn’t as well as equipped as expected (eg only breakfast tea, no herbal options). Reception staff hadn’t been equipped with the knowledge to answer any questions about the area or what to do (eg no knowledge about bike paths despite renting bikes)
