Location excellent

Stairs to the front of the property had no hand rails.

Beautiful old lodge. Great location and value for money.

Perhaps needing an interior repaint.

A place with history and character. It met my (solo traveller) needs and I found it easy to relax. I can see how small/family groups would enjoy gathering in one of the gorgeous sitting rooms. Looking out over the garden and listening to the water feature was a treat, so was the spa bath.

A little odd to meet the host about four days into my stay for the first time, however, messages/queries were quickly responded to and my late arrival/early departure wasn’t an issue. A minor detail, but some of the furnishings and decorations, like curtains and sheers, were a bit tired and worn; won’t take much to fix.

I am sure there are better rooms than the one I stayed in. But while I understand they promote the hotel as a heritage experience in reality I just found it a very expensive stay in an very run down room with stained fabrics , cheap fittings and a shower that was almost dangerous with the water temperature constantly changing from cold to scolding hot.
