Our stay at Holiday Villa, Cherating was very enjoyable. We booked Garden villa and luckily (even though we reached very late in night due to very bad traffic situation) we had a room directly facing the beach side. Beach is splendid, quiet and clean. Resort has 2 swimming pools this providing adequate facilities. Food options are limited. We liked the quiet and laid back atmosphere of the resort.
The Pros: Price was decent (RM180) and I booked about 24 hours before. Location was excellent. Just steps to the beach, although the palace wing we were in overlooked some locals' kampung. The Cons: The price you pay is no-frills. No free WiFi, no complimentary breakfast. At RM24 a head, I'd rather drive to Kuantan (which is what we did) Plumbing is in dire need of help. Little cardboard signs was placed in the bathroom exhorting us to save water, while the pipes leading to the WC was dripping merrily. As a result, the floor was always wet. Same for the sink - taps were terribly hard to shut completely off, and the shower plumbing rattles like a jackhammer when you first turn it on. We checked in at 4pm, and there were no towels. Asked for some, said they'd be delivered later. When we got back from the beach at 6pm, there were still no towels. Resorted to using the single floor towel to dry off, hoping it had been laundered properly. Towels appeared on the bed after we came back from dinnner at 9pm. Big gaps under the doors meant that we got some local wildlife in our room - caught two frisky frogs getting steamy behind the sofa and had to shoo them out because they were getting a bit noisy. Its a pity because these are all things that could have been managed or maintained better. The location as far as I am concerned are A1, the weather was perfect for hanging out by the beach or pool. You really get what you pay for!
