Idyllic Concept Resort

Difficult to review. Why? Any review must factor the cost paid. We paid a similar cost as a five star central London hotel, so expect a very high standard. But…. This is a tiny island with basic facilities and it was peak season; economics dictate as demand falls prices rise. Facts are constant however. Location - Beach front and great views for those lucky enough to have a sea view, from the limited beach facing rooms. We had a pool view mini suite, spacious with a small sofa area. Sun-beds on the beach. Sand not as perfect as found outside 10 Moons hotel. Easy stroll to bars & restaurants on central walking street. Rooms - Modern, spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable, TV, coffee making, stocked fridge with free filtered water, safe, great a/c, small wardrobe but no drawer space, European plug sockets. Iron and board available from Reception. Bathroom with large walk-in shower having 2 heads - one rainfall, basic toiletries and reasonable hairdryer. Food - Beach restaurant at night is popular and great quality. Insect repellant is a must. Breakfast buffet had a great selection. Externally we recommend Box for Spanish food & wine. Amenities - Strong WiFi, two nice pools with one beach facing. Gym over 2 floors and spa. Service - Excellent, everyone was really friendly and helpful, resort kept very clean. Condition - The hotel has been designed well and if you glance it looks great but closer inspection reveals poor quality materials and workmanship. Examples: bare wires, lots of chipped and discoloured tiles, sockets hanging out of walls etc. Best not to look too close. Summary - Not cheap. Ko Lipe was at full capacity, so was way over crowded compared to our first visit a few years ago. We wouldn’t return at Xmas due to the over crowding. It is however a small beautiful island from the front facing side, albeit a filthy untidy dumping ground behind the scenes on the back routes

We were travelling around Thailand, this was our 4th stay. I'd come from Koh Mook, so I was surprised how different the island was. The room was ok, clean and quite large. I unfortunately wasn't that impressed with breakfast, for the number of people in the hotel - I feel maybe they should have had a bigger area. I didn't think people needed to be told that breakfast was finishing in 10 minutes; it wasn't as relaxed as previous ones. The sea and views were absolutely amazing, stunning! Although so much building has happened on the island they haven't had time to remove alot of the leftover materials (I realise this must be difficult)

Exceptional resort and staff. Wonderful experience. Couldn't have asked for more. Great location on sunrise beach. Must book. Great value.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Although I wasn’t able to stay at Idyllic Concept Resort this time because it was fully booked, I still made sure to visit for dining and drinks as I always do. Every visit reminds me why Idyllic is one of the most special places on Koh Lipe. The atmosphere is peaceful and beautifully set by the sea, the food and cocktails are consistently excellent, and the service is always warm and attentive. A special thank-you to N’On and the management team for their professionalism and genuine hospitality, and to N’Mon for always providing service with a smile — you truly brighten every visit. Even when I’m not staying overnight, I always feel like part of the Idyllic family. Thank you all for making every experience so memorable. I’m already looking forward to returning soon — and hopefully staying next time! 🌴💫

I have no idea how Idllyic rates as highly as it does. And I’ve stayed at 5 different hotels on Koh Lipe, so I’ve got a good basis for local comparison. It’s not *bad* - the problem is that it’s positioned and priced as a premium option when the reality is in many ways non-premium. It looks kind of fancy on the outside, but that’s a veneer. Basically, it’s bad *value*. If they positioned as mid-range and charged half as much as they do I’d be giving it 8/10 & be pretty happy. But for what it is, and what they charge, it’s a disappointing 4/10. The good: The beach is beautiful. This end of Sunrise Beach is one of the nicer spots. Lots of sun-lounges placed on/near the actual beach, which can be lacking at some places. Staff are friendly and helpful. Not as proactive as I’ve experienced elsewhere (which is probably a management issue) - but they’re still good. The setting / gardens are quite nice, albeit feel a bit cramped - lots of big buildings in a small space. The bad: While in general I’d rate the cleanliness of the place as high, there were several large & obvious stains on the duvet (very visible through a (clean) top sheet). The room (a “Deluxe Cabana Garden View”) was quite small for the price. The place I stayed on Koh Lipe immediately prior - which was leagues better in every way - about 25% more money got me a (much nicer) room ~3x the size. Room was looking pretty tired & quite poorly maintained. Particularly the bathroom. Multiple rain leaks in the shower ceiling/walls - one above the towel rain, and combined they splash water all over the bathroom floor. Cracked perspex panels & rotted wood trims in the bathroom, poorly applied caulk & overpaint, water stains, etc. Both doors jam in their frames. The sort of rooms that probably looked/were amazing when new, but not any more. Shower doesn’t drain properly & often lets out septic-tank-smells. Not uncommon for accom on a small island like Lipe, and not the end of the world, but I would’ve expected better for the price. Plus a (fresh water) leak from a hose connected to the toilet. Food & drink prices are obscene for Thailand, even by the standards of higher-end places on Lipe. And to add insult the food items I tried were average. It’s also literally the only place I’ve stayed (or eaten) on Lipe which adds VAT & a 10% service charge - that I have zero confidence is actually going to the staff - on top of prices. Which just feels cheap & petty. Charge what you’re going to charge - but just list what the total cost is going to be. Breakfast buffet is disappointing - variety is poor (for the price point), food isn’t great, and any “hot” food that’s not cooked specifically for you will be cold. The annoying: They practically force you to install their app, nominally to allow messaging with the hotel staff. And it does do that. But they also use it to spam you with constant push notifications trying to get you to buy stuff. They’ve sent 7 *so far* just today. And there’s no way to turn them off. The fact they don’t have a way to disable promotions says a lot about the place I think. The rooms are really poorly *designed*, eg: One accessible powerpoint in the entire room (outside the bathroom) - and it has the switch & plug so close that you can’t plug a phone charger into it. There isn’t even a power point for the kettle. The chandelier-lamps in the room act like wind chimes with the AC on. So you can either have a cool room, or have a constant jangling noise. Very hard & uncomfortable mattresses (a bit subjective, but these are *hard*). One small towel rail in the whole bathroom/room. Good luck if you want to hang two bath towels - or even a hand towel - or want to dry your swimsuit inside. I’ll finish reiterating what I said at the start - this place isn’t *bad*. It’s just not particularly good, in a whole myriad of ways, while pitching & pricing itself like it’s great. You can do far better for the same (actually, less) money.

I had a wonderful stay here at the Idyllic Concept Resort. The staff were lovely and welcoming. I picked a beach facing room and it was really nice and close to the beach. I went in the low season, so it was a lot quieter in and around the resort. But that was what I wanted. The resort is on the Sunrise side of Ko Lipe, and its only about a 20 minute walk up the beach from the Sunset side of the island. I would not go through the town, as it was easier to walk along the beach to the western facing beach where I watched the sunset in the evenings. From June onwards, the island does kind of begin to shut down, so while many of the restaurants on the island were still open, there was hardly any customers most of the time. That was fine for me, as I wanted to spend time by the beach within the hotel complex. Special thanks for making my stay here so enjoyable to Hannah from the Front Desk. And Alim the waiter at the Beach Bar who kept me 'hydrated' and fed.

Relaxing and beautiful place with friendly staff and excellent food, especially the breakfast. Make sure that you get one of the newly renovated rooms - they are very nice. We can also recommend boat trips to surrounding islands. The freediving is awesome, check with the local boat taxis. This is our second stay and we will be coming back again!

We loved our stay at the Idyllic and would highly recommend it. Excellent breakfast, lovely room and great views from the beachside pool and the beach itself. However, the absolute highlight was dinner on the beach at night in the hotel's restaurant...beautiful ambiance and some of the best food we have had in Thailand!

the goods location is great. the beach area is quite private. not too far from the walking street. the gym is great, especially on such a small island. one of the best resort gym I have visited in Asia. the resort spa is fine, and the private snorkeling trip is fine and fairly priced. the oks the resort food is just ok. breakfast was ok. but the cocktails are fine and the Starbucks coffees are not bad. the bads rooms are getting worn, or maybe just poor maintenance. the first room 306 (pool view suite) had a few issues, aircon wasn't cold enough. hot water wasn't consistent and pressure was low. there was a bath tub in room, but pressure was even lower there where it would never finish filling the tub. and worst, there are a lot of dirty sediments in the water. complained to reception and they changed us to another room across the pool (403). they claimed it's the same room type but the 2 room layouts are so different and the 2nd one looked much smaller. we had no choice but to change. but the 2nd room was not better too. water pressure was slightly better and aircon is just slightly cooler. but it was so loud at night. the dirty water sediments were still there. so even we paid premium for the bath tub room, it was not usable at all. the front desk staffs were just trying to do their job but weren't really doing enough to save the bad experience.
