Novotel Ha Long Bay,

the hotel is in prime location, but also charges that way. yet, it is very dated, and the bed is about the worst ever. it is too springy to sleep comfortably in. and, there are too many kids running around after swimming, in the lobby, in the elevators...

Very good. Very friendly staff. Bich at check in counter was impeccable. Gave us a free upgrade to suite too because the hotel was overbooked.

Great room with amazing staff. Breakfast was outstanding with everything you could want. The service is what really stands out. Hana was our tour guide for a trip to the bay and she was amazing. She went above and beyond to help us.

High level of service lovely pool, food was a little overpriced for Vietnam. Spa service was excellent. Bar service was friendly.

Slight mix up on check-in, had to wait for something, not sure what. Staff do speak English, but hotel is remote. Poor TV signal...WIFI good. NO ATM at property. Don't be fooled by claims of " Happy hour" its in fact a discounted second drink of 30%. Good breakfast choice and lots of staff. Tipoa Car Hire located just across the street. Hotel rip you off on any transport request. For example I was quoted by hotel for a car to Hai Phong Airport (45min journey) 1,800,000M Dong, local taxi did it for 500,000 (crazy) Ask for their new Dutch resident Manager if you have any issues.

We would rate this hotel as average. Not bad, not great, just average. There is not much to do in the area so don't stay longer than you need to. I cannot say anything bad about the service as everybody at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. They also gave my fiancé a nice birthday cake when I told them it was his birthday, so that was nice. The rooms themselves were average. We did not find that the beds were very comfortable. The televisions were very staticky. The other couple we stayed with noticed dust all over the room and on everything in the mini bar (looks like room had not been used in a long time or mini bar items had been there for a very long time). Mini bars did not stock the same items from room to room and items we used were not replaced. Showers were not dirty but also did not seem really clean. All food, drink, and laundry was very expensive (similar to what we would pay in London England). We chose to eat and drink elsewhere most of the time. The couple we stayed with said their laundry came back smelling of fried food. My fiancé said he has stayed in many Novotel hotels and said this was by far the worst. I would stay here if you don't have any better options and just want somewhere safe and clean to stay, but I can't recommend it beyond that.

The staff is amazing here. They are always helpful if you need anything at all. They speak English well and fluent. They were able to return my camera which I left in the room and upgraded our room as well as complimentary - thank you. Everyone knows Novotel as well so it is easy to give directions to taxi drivers if you need to get back home. There are some local places to eat with just a short 5-10 min walk.

The staff and the location of this property was more than wonderful! Very close to Tuan Chau Marina, a pub, Sunworld, local shopping, the local town, and had a great view of the bay islands in the distance. never had to Grab too far at all. Would definitely stay here again. :)
