"Close to beach"

8.0

Older hotel but close to free beach and nice staff. Dinner is only 1 hr and you have to book in advance...better to eat elsewhere.

"Wonderful staff...."

6.0

Though this hotel could use a bit of updating, the room was comfortable enough for the one night we stayed. We enjoyed having a glass of wine and nosh on our balcony facing the sea. The staff is wonderful and very accommodating. When we decided to change our mode of transportation from train to car, the young lady at the front desk not only arranged for a rental car for us, but had the car rental service drive over from Nettuno to pick us up! The buffet breakfast was the best we had during our three week stay in Italy! Overall, we would recommend this hotel.

"Well located great value for money hotel"

8.0

Have stayed at this hotel several times now. Although it's a little distance from Anzio itself, it's conveniently located 5 mins walk from the train station and is 5 mins drive to Anzio itself. There is access to the beach, and the hotel itself has a small pool. Staff are friendly and the hotel is simply appointed, if a little old fashioned, but it's clean and very good value for money.

"Ideal for a stopover"

6.0

Although the staff were very helpful (especially the night porter!), the hotel looked like that it had had a few hard years and was at the end of the season - which it was. The pool could have been a bit cleaner (but they had had a few days of bad weather) and although we chose a smoking room for a balcony, the whole room smelt like it had been closed up for months. However, a couple of hours with the patio doors open solved this. I always say 'you get what you pay for' and for the one night we stayed there......it was more than adequate. Can highly recommend the breakfast buffet and the Chinese restaurant next door for an evening meal!!!

"cheap and convenient"

8.0

Rather than drive from Rome in the early morning to catch the hydrofoil to Ponza, we decided to spend the night in Anzio. The hotel is across the road from the small sandy beach (which was closed for the season, but still accessible). We had sea view rooms with terrace and patio furniture from which to admire the magnificent sunset in comfort. The rooms (double for single use) were small and would need updating, especially the tiny and old-fashioned bathrooms. We were told the restaurant was closed for lunch, but if we wanted dinner we should book before 7 pm (dinner being from 8 to 9 pm). When I went to book however I was told it was exceptionally closed that night. The lobby, bar and dining room are spacious and decorated with nautical items, driftwood, and various artefacts - a little kitsch, but charming. The pool area is in need of a lick of paint, and I had to fish out an astonishing number of drowned grasshoppers before I fet I could go into the water, which was bracingly cold. Serviceable towels were provided and we were allowed to take out our drinks. The personnel, whilst a little elusive (clearly preferring each other's company to answering customers' queries), were charming and helpful. The owner personally escorted us out when we left with a warm farewell handshake. Breakfast normally starts at 7.30 am but you can ask to have it earlier in the bar. As eight persons including us had requested that when we were there, the hotel simply opened the breakfast room early, so instead of just coffee and a croissant, we were able to enjoy a full breakfast with fruit juices, yogurt, cereals, pastries, and ham and cheese sandwiches. As a relatively cheap overnight stay, it was good value and I would recommend it.

"Friendly place by the sea"

6.0

The hotel is in a great position opposite the beach and is convenient for the railway station, only a 5 minute walk. The staff were all very friendly and helpful although limited English speaking, but then it is a good opportunity to practice Italian. The standard of cleanliness was very good throughout, both inside and outside the hotel but it has to be said it could benefit from some investment in some areas. Slightly jaded furniture and fittings but it did not detract from our stay, everything worked and we had no problems. I think the extra for the sea view would be worth paying, ours overlooked the pool., they also have a balcony. There is a great restaurant about 500 metres from the hotel, ask at reception for details, which saves a walk or taxi ride into the main town; thoroughly recommend this restaurant good food and very friendly service. The hotel is away from the centre of the old town in an area of holiday and apartment homes so is a bit lacking in attractions and atmosphere but it is safe and clean. Overall I would recommend the hotel and stay there again.

"Classic Italian"

8.0

This is a classic Italian hotel with lovely sea views. It exudes a level of cool that only an Italian hotel could. It is within walking distance of the town centre apart from the heat which is month dependent. The room we had was sea facing with an open balcony which had the sun all day. The only poor point was the bathroom which was tight for space with a poor shower. Overall an excellent stay. The reception / lounge iarea s a nice cool respite from the heat.

"Good for the beach and Anzio"

8.0

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay. The hotel is a little dated eg air con not working, shower enclosure needed replacing but did not detract from our stay. It is about 20 mins walk into Anzio, and 2 mins from the local beach. The hotel was easy to find, good parking. We went the last week of May, nice and quiet. The season starts properly on 1st June when things did get busier. Overall very enjoyable.
