The Magellan Sutera Resort

We visited this resort in June 2026 and had an amazing time. The staff were all extremely friendly and constantly offering to help. A special mention to Chef Kris who made our stay even more enjoyable by catering to a coeliac member in our group. Kris went out of his way to make gluten free food (free from contamination) by hand including all Malaysian meals, burgers, pizza, pancakes etc. He even made a GF Dorian cake! Would highly recommend this resort to any guests. We will be back.

We loved our stay here, wonderful week after spending 2 weeks in the jungle. Although the place is quite big it never feels crowded. The breakfast is great, the swimmingpools super and the little beach is breathtaking beautiful. Lunch and dinner at Alfresco is also really good. The bed sleeps very well. All in all we had a perfect time here, regardless of the state of the bedroom.

The rooms are outdated and deepcleaning is just no longer possible. Therefor the cleaning of the room is not good enough for us and/or what you expect from this type of resort. And the parasols really need to be changed, they are so old and ripped that you can barely call it a parasol.

Great pool and super kind and accommodating staff. Breakfast buffet was great. Food at other restaurants was decent.

Some of the furniture could use a refresh and rooms could use a fresh coat of paint. Oddly there were so many tourists taking Instagram/posing photos around the property which eventually became a bit obnoxious but it is a beautiful setting!

Location, views, pool, very comfortable bed. Chef Mulyono should be commended, he kindly ensured I had gluten-free bread available every day.

Resort is old, tired and in need of a lot of updating and maintenance. Poor TV quality and channel provision, no way to watch major world event ie World Cup. No life in the evenings. Western breakfast provision very limited. Resort is way over-priced for what was provided.

We loved our room, we had the horizon cloud executive suite. The room was huge. The view was amazing.

However, we were disappointed that the room had two small TV’s and they weren’t smart TV’s so we couldn’t watch anything except local stations. It’s a small thing but when you are paying for such a nice room you should expect it to have contemporary conveniences. Our other complaint is the room service menu was poor. It is a small tung, but again when you are paying for a room which has a separate dining room you want to be able to use it. There are 4 onsite restaurants which are all great. But they don’t let you order most of the items for room service. The only vegetarian option was cheese Pizza. We wanted chocolate cake for desert but there was no desert on the room service menu. I walked down to the restaurant and they were happy to send up a delicious chocolate lava cake. They just need to improve the customer service with their room service Menu.

The rooms are dated and in need of updating
