Dar El Kébira

At first glance, this Riad Dar El Kebira is beautiful and traditional. But after staying here two nights, it became stuffy and aged. There was a peculiar smell to our rooms, so even though we know it was “cleaned”, we doubt it had been deep cleaned for a really long time. Our biggest issue with the Riad was the lack of communication. The staff was very hard working and tried very hard to help, but the general manager was no help at all and could be overheard berating his staff. We tried to arrange a city tour through the Riad, but after two hours of waiting around and being told the guide was on his way, we gave up and ventured out on our own. Unless you really want to stay in the Medina, we recommend staying in a more modern place and visiting the Medina for a few hours instead.

I am sorry of not being more generous towards this Riad as the staff is incredible kind and helpful and is the best asset. The place is very clean but…the right term to describe the hotel is not luxe but quaint. The rooms are cute (and very small) but definitely tired as are the bathrooms and also the common parts really need refreshing and updating to bring the place to the 21st century!!! The Road is very conveniently located in the Medina so is perfect for walking almost anywhere.

Great signage to location of riad. Walking distance to the Kasbah and shopping inside the medina. Comfortable room on the first floor (not ground floor). Delicious breakfast and attentive service.

A riad full of character with comfortable rooms and well positioned for the souk. We received a warm welcome and the service was very attentive. Breakfast on the roof was fantastic and there were spaces to relax in the sun or in cool shady rooms. The reception staff helped us find a very good guide and a taxi to the station even during Eid. The restaurant meals were excellent. Would be happy to return.

It is a charming hotel but with very small rooms and very narrow door post which I kept running into. The location is great. You can't reach the place by car , only on foot and through a small part of the maze that is the old parts of Rabat. The breakfast is served on the roof terrace and the dinner is served on the bottom floor. Dinner need to be pre-ordered a few hours before. There are a lot of stairs to get to and from the rooms and they are quite narrow. Staff is great thou.

Fantastic staff and location for this Riad.

We loved our stay here. It’s an authentic Riad in the old town. Dekra, Ahmed, Safouane and Hamid were very welcoming hosts. The food was tasty and traditional, lots of tea and beautful surroundings. A feast for the eyes at every turn, a real treasure. Thank you for having us.

My stay at Dar El Kebira was one of the best lodging experiences of my life. The Riad was beautiful, every single staff member was exceptionally hospitable, and the location could not have been better for exploring Rabat.
