Hotel Sandmelis

We were in town for the holidays and visiting family nearby. We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was always friendly and addressed any concerns we had immediately. The room was spacious and beds comfy. I slept well. I regret that we didn't get to try any of the spa services. The breakfast was DELICIOUS and above and beyond what I expected: croissant, eggs, fresh fruit, with juice and coffee.

The room was clean, modern and comfortable. The shower was hot. Lots of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was okay. Staff were helpful in organising airport shuttle ($25).

Good hotel, friendly staff, nice clean room with good bathroom with all the amenities, good hot water, good location close to all.

Excelente Estadía

Great location and excellent hosts

We live out by Montanita, but have in-laws in Quito we like to visit. This is our 3rd time in Quito, and our 3rd time staying at this lovely hotel. We are always treated nicely, love their food, and they are conveniently located to all the major attractions. Not to mention it's about 3 blocks from my mother in-law's house, so it's not too close, and its not too far - it's just right. jeje. Seriously, we've never had an issue here, check-in/out is easy as pie, and my kids always look forward to getting their own beds whenever they come, they've already staked it out. One time we did have an issue with our TV (wouldn't turn on) and when we returned from the day's activities it was fixed. They had told us they replaced it. Wonderful service.

Sandmelis was an excellent choice hotel located in a great area for me to commute to where I needed to be for two days. The management/ staff were very accommodating & friendly. The room was very nice and comfortable as well. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Quito.

Positives: good food, clean. NEGATIVE: The room was completely sealed (a "little window" leading to a sealed laundry room) and lacked oxygen. I asked them for a room in the first floor because I was going to have a medical procedure - I had an anemic drop and the most horrifying days/nights because there was no oxygen to breath in the room until my husband decided to peak through the little opening at the "window" and discovered that there was a laundry room with a gas tank (they use gas tanks to operate the washing machines) and the laundry room was completely sealed. What we thought was outside light or air coming through the little window opening was not really coming from outside. Instead, they had the top part of the laundry room sealed with a transparent plastic or glass king of material (WE WERE LIKE SET UP IN A ROOM DESIGNED FOR A HORROR MOVIE)...no wonder I felt and thought that I was really dying without realizing that the lack of oxygen was making my medical condition worse. Also, we had to deal with the laundry machines noise all day. All I know is that if I had spend one more night in that room I would not be telling the story today. On 2/25/19 we found out the real condition of the room and the owner just said: "we knew about it but we did not have another room available." Getting a refund was not allowed and they just moved us to room 117 which was good, ventilated and appropriate. I had made a complaint with the appropriate agencies in Ecuador. First, I had to go to 3 different Police departments, then I finally, was able to make the complaint at the Ecuador Tourism agency. They are working with us so we can at least get a refund for the 7 horror nights that we spent in that room. Is not about money that I am worry but about human lives and is my responsibility to alert other travelers. People can die in that room due to the lack of breathable oxygen.

Cleaned room, good persons, Profisionality, Good experience. I felt in my home. Was a good oportunity to know Quito because was my first time in Ecuador.. Regarding of the hotel was very good experience..

Fantastic service, extremely polite, extremely professional, will recommend to any friends staying in Quito. Was with a large group and they accommodated us all wonderfully. Food was fantastic every morning and the rooms were great by every account.
