Hotel Sol De Quito

We arrived at Quito 1AM from Atlanta, quickly passed through customs and was in a taxi 20 minutes later. Taxi flat rate to downtown ($40) -45 minutes at that hour. double that for rush hour. Did a Google maps translated into Spanish for directions to hotel; simply handed to taxi driver, worked great. Hotel staff night person very nice; spoke enough English to be helpful. Next day breakfast buffet- coffee, fruit, croissants,eggs very good; 7-9:30AM. Room on 3rd floor was very big ( double), kingsized bed, ensuite bath up a flight of stairs. Hotel and room looked like a personal museum (Indeed it is). Wood , & carvings everwhere.1 1/2 blocks to major street where taxis are plentiful; $2-3 to go to most plazas and other attractions in El Centro or New Town. Check out at 11:30AM; staff will let you stash luggage until a later flight. All in all, boutique experience at a very reasonable rate.

I have stayed at this hotel twice in the past couple of months. Close to Mall Jardin, Carolina Park, coffee shops and bakeries. Always a great experience. Very friendly staff and comfortable rooms and lobbies.

Great location away from el centro. Hotel staff is helpful and accommodating. When I was sick, they got me some medicine. What service! Will definitely stay there again when in Quito.

I stayed here for 3 weeks and this place is really comfortable. The staff is helpful and exceedingly friendly. When I got sick, they sent for medicine. Accommodations are quite pleasant. Definitely will stay here again when I visit Quito.

Similar to other reviewers, place lovely and clean. Good breakfast. Hotel staff very friendly but lacked ability to answer simple questions about nearby restaurants and events going on in Quito - no info about concerts, museums, etc. Convenient to public transportation to get to historic area. Warning - the "upgrade" matrimonial suite has long stairway to bath, with maybe 15" for last step into bathroom.

Perfect for the price, if you are expecting a five stars hotel, this is not it but it is a really good decent hotel, breakfast was good, the staff was very helpful. Conveniently located close to the civic center and within walking distance of the "La Carolina" park which is an amazing park for us "Runners" Extremely secured, the front door is locked all the time and it is only open upon request, which makes you feel safe all the time. A few convenient stores around the block. Overall, I would come back to it again.

Great little place, close to family and and nice neighborhood. It was clean, great service (helped my find names in a phone book and using their phone). Location is not near a lot, just perfect to me. Old museum flavor, steps, dark wood, and great feeling to be in a residence like hotel (large house).

I stayed for 10 days and really enjoyed this hotel. The staff was helpful, rooms clean, very comfortable and safe. I liked staying off the beaten path, it was very quiet but close to the restaurants and shopping. For the price, this place can't be beat!

The manager was extremely helpful and helped us with our large amount of luggage, even though it was after midnight. He also assisted us with arranging transportation from Quito to Cuenca via a private drive.
