HillsNek Safari Camp – Amakhala Game Reserve

The small size of HillsNek gives the place a homely feel, and the personalised, friendly professional service is amazing. The safari guides are very knowledgeable and go out of their way to surpass each clients expectations. I cannot recommend Amakhala game reserve and HILLSNEK in particular, highly enough!

We had such an amazing time at HillsNek and are extremely grateful for our time there. The setting, the tents, the lodge, the staff, the food, the service, everything was just perfect! We have been on Safari quite a bit the last 20 years in places like Sabi Sands or even Botswana! If you plan for HillsNek and you know where you go and what to expect you’ll be extremely satisfied! Thanks to the team and especially to our passionate and wonderful guide Joel! Good job Tom Cruise!

Tolle Unterkunft, superfreundliches Personal, hervorragendes Essen! Die Safaris waren ein Traum, unsere Guides Bonbon und Joel sehr kompetent und gleichzeitig lustig, so dass man eher das Gefühl hatte, mit Freunden unterwegs zu sein. Toller Pluspunkt gegenüber anderen Lodges im Reservat: die Jeeps hatten kein störendes Dach, so dass wir eine tollen Rundumblick hatten. Bei Regen wird man zwar nass, aber die bereitgestellten Ponchos wärmen und halten das schlimmste ab. Sehr familiärer Rahmen, da es nur vier Zelte und somit in der Regel nicht mehr als acht Gäste gibt.

This was the highlight of our honeymoon. I could not recommend this place more. The game drives were exceptional - our guides Ebin and Timmy were super knowledgeable and delivered truly incredible experiences with the wildlife. Food was great, the braai under the stars was a highlight, and we loved the whole atmosphere of the camp (and the outdoor shower!). Get there ASAP because they take care of you from the moment you arrive and you don't want to miss a second of this!

I can't think of a single thing. I guess it gets quite hot in the toilet in the honeymoon tent in the daytime but then, it's a tent in summer in Africa...

Hillsnek is an incredibly special place to stay. If you are thinking of visiting Amakhala, I wouldn't hesitate in recommeding this accomodation. The staff are so freindly, there is a real family feel and you are made to feel so welcome from the moment you arrive. The accomodation is stunning, very spacious and luxurious with lots of nice little touches in the room. The food is wonderful with different choices for each meal, you will never go hungry! The accomodation is totally worth the money because you are not just paying for the hotel, but for the full experince. The safari guides are wonderful, the reserve is incredibly beautiful and we cannot fault our stay. Shoutout to our guide Ryan who really made our trip!! It is also really easy to contact the property to organise a transfer from Cheif Dawid airport (1 hour drive) - very easy!

Everything was perfect. From being met at the cat park to being dropped off we experienced seemless service. The Reserve was glorious and our rangers ensured we saw everything. The Lodge was beautiful. A wonderful room, great food, superb attention to detail. Drinks out in the Reserve and around the campfire were just a couple of a very long list of highlights.
