Sherbrooke Castle Hotel

Grand old building, lovely foyer with sweeping staircase, Christmas lights and tree on display, tartan carpet. Staff were pleasant. Stayed in Junior suite, very large lots of room. Lovely bathroom.

Bed was not made up very well and bed linen was a little shabby, not what we expected for £154 a night. Bathroom toiletries were sparse, only two tiny little bottles. Lighting in room was terrible. We stayed there in early Nov and didn't have heater on but room was still too warm, we had to open windows overnight. It may be very hot in summer. No lift to upper floors, and whilst it was a lovely staircase it was a hard climb with heavy luggage.

Staff are so friendly, and the venue is spotless. Our room was a great size and the location suited us well. Car park on site was handy but plenty of street parking too. 5 minute walk to the train station and 1 stop into the city. The restaurant was lovely, we sat next to the fireplace which was lovely for a rainy night. Our waiter on the evening was attentive and organised a wee mocktail for me which I really appreciated. (It was delicious and wasn't just juice and sprite). We would definitely book again and looks like a stunning venue for a wedding.

Close to airport.

No one offers to help you with bags up flights of stairs. No water provided. The bed and pillows are HORRIBLE. Worst hotel of our entire trip.
