"Awesome staff, but rooms need some updates"

8.0

We stayed here for two nights. The grounds and lobby are beautiful. The staff is friendly and attentive. The room that we stayed in definitely needs some work. The furniture is mismatched. The bed is not very comfortable, and the bed linens are not very nice. The curtains are worn down, with a 1990's design, and don't close all of the way. The bathroom has two different tiles, plus some worn out wood accents. The room was large, and could be really nice if they remodeled it! We ate breakfast and one dinner in the restaurant and it was good.

"Buyer beware and don't trust what AI tells you when looking at location reviews"

2.0

Sherbrooke Castle Hotel The decision to stay at Sherbrooke Castle was based on the review posted on line including those reviews on Tripadvisor. Given what they contain this is certainly not the same place that I recently stayed at over the holiday period by a long shot. On their web site pages they claim it is a luxury 4 star hotel with executive guest rooms but the reality of the place is far from that. A dour Victorian manse sat on top of a grass bank that is in dire need of a considerable amount of TLC in all areas. The “conservatory function room” could do with a heavy clean both inside and out to clean all of the glazing spars with the loose panels re-fixing. The heating in the room I stayed in needs some serious attention by a heating engineer as it is like a fridge which was a bit odd as the hot water in the bathroom was uncomfortably hot. One of the radiators in the room also needs a few new fixings to secure it back to the wall along with the pipework to it. The bed in the room comprised of two singles pushed together which gives a hard seam down the centre of the bed. The mattresses are both well past their best and it needs urgent replacement given the rates charged for the room. The room incidentally was part of the small block of three behind the hotel car park with vehicles moving about well into the late evening as they have 4 EV charge points right outside the front doors of the three rooms in the block located just in front of the access steps leading to each room door. In the event of an unplanned thermal event taking place whilst a vehicle is being charged up the escape route from the three rooms would in effect be blocked by the burning vehicle or vehicles and given the fire intensity resulting from an EV fire the timber porch over the entrance route to these three rooms would be severely compromised. This being made worse by the electric feeder cables to the chargers being fixed to the exposed porch woodwork. I strongly suspect that before the in room smoke detector went off the roof would be well alight as well effectively blocking the escape of all room occupants. It would be interesting to review your fire risk assessment to see what it has to say about this. Eating the restaurant was as expected, full to capacity with staff who worked very hard to keep up with the service and despite that they remained cheerful. The meal itself was very mixed, ranging from mediocre to above average but that said with mass catering with these numbers the kitchen must have had their work cut out to deliver. One of the previous reviewers makes mention of items running out and certainly at breakfast that rang true. So the key questions are would I stay here again when on business in Glasgow and the answer is no, this would be followed by value for money and unfortunately the answer is no as this is a luxury hotel by any stretch of the imagination and lastly would I recommend it to others and the answer to that is empathically no, never. An overpriced Weatherspoon’s with an underperforming Travelodge room experience.

"Great Christmas atmosphere"

8.0

3rd visit. Great Christmas atmosphere and decorations. Older style turret room which we really liked. Restaurant struggled with some issues ('they always run out of things on a Sunday' apparently) All in all a nice place for a break with parking and easy access to a 5 min train ride to Glasgow central.

"Amazing Team and a lovely hotel"

8.0

The team were fantastic. They couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable. At the same time they were not intrusive nor did they 'get in the way', a perfect blend of attentive and working hard in the background.

The decor in the room could be more modern and WiFi was poor

"Ideal Hotel Break"

10.0

Stayed at the hotel for two nights in December. Good value for money which included breakfast & free parking. Spacious clean rooms with good breakfast options. Good location for City Centre and other places to visit. Only downside, would have expected haggis & square sausage on a Scottish breakfast. Looking forward to returning.

-Beau château -Literie confortable -Bon emplacement -Suite spacieuse
