Tongariro Lodge

Pros: Pretty views, quiet environment, large accommodation with outdoor area, friendly/helpful staff. Spa bath was an unexpected treat. Lovely grounds with lots to explore. Close to a grocery store. Quick drive to Taupo.

Cons: Not the standard expected due to rating and price. Not serviced. No fishing options at a fishing. lodge, no equipment to hire, must bring own, difficult as international travelers. Most electrical equipment in accommodation is very old- faulty oven and washing machine. Everything works, just poorly. As all windows in top bedrooms are sealed, there is no ventilation, making them too hot in the afternoon on summer days, and we are QLD'ers! Uncomfortable beds.

Very clean, staff incredibly friendly. Heat lamps in room good touch for when things inevitably wet, worth eating in the restaurant for a night

Could hear other cabins through walls, don’t book if it bothers you

Nice location, bit away from the city buzz. Being pure vegetarian we did not try the food but heard it is nice.

Their website mentions all chalets are private, which is not fully correct for some, in case you end up getting a middle chalet like us, it does not have a private deck, it is shared with the corner one. Also there is a common door between two chalets, which is locked but still you can hear the other person staying in other chalet. To make it worst the TV is also on the common wall, so you are conscious to watch something in night in case you might end up disturbing the other person. The reception staff seemed bit rude as well, Could have offered us a corner Chalet, when we complained about the shared door and noise. I understand they were fully booked but Chalet allocation should be on first come basis,he could have offered us another one when no one had checked in. Overall my experience was not expected. And also not worth $400/day

Stunning setting and good restaurant & bar. Staff were excellent.

The adjacent rooms were noisy. I would request another option next time we book.

Tolle Lage im Wald am Fluss. Schönes Holzhaus mit Terasse. Tolles Restaurant für Abendessen und Frühstück. Eindrucksvoĺl und ruhig gelegen.

Frühstück haben wir zusätzlich gebucht. Gute Auswahl, einmal gab’s Buffett, preislich ok. Zimmer (Chalet) praktisch eingerichtet, sauber. Toll gelegen im Park.
