Great location for walks along the Tongariro river, perfect for fishermen. Only a short drive from Turangi which has a small selection of shops and eateries however there is an on-site restaurant at the accommodation if you prefer not to drive. The lodge was more spacious than it appeared from the outside. Very comfortable bed, clean linens and extra blankets/an electric blanket if required. Tea and coffee facilities were very welcome.

It's a small issue but we felt that the windows could have used a fly screen as, being close to the river, there were several mosquitos in the lodge, especially in the bathroom.
