The Lofts Boutique Hotel

Loved everything about thus place: location, Nest restaurant, breakfast bakery, our balcony room and the amazing staff. Would love to return.

The view from the room was stunning and the room itself was gorgeous. Staff were incredibly helpful and hospitable, letting us check in early, helping with bags and getting us a last minute booking downstairs for dinner on the terrace. The breakfast next door in the morning was incredible! There are bikes and kayaks too which we wish we'd had time to take out and explore more of Knysna!

Nothing, our only wish is that we'd stayed two nights instead of one!

Pool is really for small kids

The hotel is, without doubt, located in the best place on Thesen Island. Stunning views and so central. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and the Nest restaurant and Ile De Pain bakery are brilliant. The Spa is also excellent - can highly recommend. The apartment is well equipped and you can easily self cater if you should wish. Very clean and the complimentary beers and water were very welcome. Kayaking available and also a small library and some board games. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. It's something different.

It's a bit quirky. We booked one of the apartments and access to the second bedroom is not the easiest (and this wasn't obvious from the photos or description). You have to climb stairs and the bathroom is at the top of these stairs. You then have to climb up 5 steps and down 5 steps (over a beam - the hotel is built inside the former boat building shed and all features have, quite rightly, been retained). Fortunately, one of the 2 couples in our group were able to manage the steps but if both couples had had mobility issues, it would have been a significant problem. The other issue for us was the noise factor - the rooms are right above the Nest restaurant and they start preparing breakfast at 7am. You don't have to mind that as background noise... It would be troublesome to have the windows open but there is air-conditioning which helps a lot - it's not called The Lofts for nothing! With hindsight, we wished we had booked the hotel rooms rather than the apartment. Overall though, we really did enjoy our stay so thank you to all at The Lofts!
