Comfort Inn Santa Rosa on Route 66

Had a problem with over flowing toilet. Night Manager promptly tried to correct issue. Eventually decided best to move us to a different room.

Toilet overflowing. Even though the manager handled the problem as well as he could, not having maintenence worker immediately available and unable to locate proper equipment (plunger), it forced us to change room. All of this happened after we were settled in the room. My husband was already in bed. We were then given a room we did not request. We asked for and reserved a King bed. We were moved to a room with 2 Queens. May not seem like a big deal. But rooms with a King usually have 2 night stands. The Queen bed rooms only have 1 night stand. We both have to charge our phones and prefer to keep them by our bedside. With one nightstand cannot do that, as we prefer to sleep together. Although I do appreciate the attention and care of the manager to find a solution, we were not entirely happy with the forced change.

Easy and clean stop while driving through New Mexico - did not have an obvious elevator (maybe there was one and we missed it) and were instructed to use the stairs to get to our room. After a long day of driving this was not ideal. Everything else was standard and clean.

We were there with a Model T car tour for 3 day stay. Convenient off of old Route 66; parking for trailers excellent and convenient; hot breakfast adequate and same each day; nice breakfast room we were allowed to use for an evening hospitality event; rooms were roomy by most motel standards; quiet despite being near to I-40 traffic.

The hotel attracts barn swallows at evening and morning hours; they fly at the upper level windows; evidence of mud nests having been ? knocked down by the facility. The birds droop poop on the parking spaces in these areas.

Sheets dirty...carpet stains. Smells bad. Outdated rooms.

No elevator and it’s a total ankle replacement that’s not fun
