Park Lodge Guest House

The breakfast was excellent: a wide choice of cereal, fruit, and what appeared to be home-made jam and marmalade. I didn't want a full-English breakfast, but my feeling is that it would have been very good - I had poached egg on toast on one day, and soft-boiled eggs on the other. I highly recommend this guest house - it is also in the perfect central location.

The only dislike, if you can call it as such, is that you eat at the same breakfast table as any other guests - there were 8 seats around the table. I am not going to mark this as a negative because it was not a problem to me, but I only mention it as some people might not like the idea. I would definitely return if I needed somewhere to stay in Whitley Bay.

Located within a minute's walk of the sea-front, yet not in a noisy position. Enjoyed the walk along the sea-front to the lighthouse on St Mary's Island with its bird life and seals. (Check the tides for the causeway being accessible). Very comfortable accommodation. Our double room had well-upholstered chairs in which to relax and we enjoyed 3 great nights sleep in the very comfortable bed. Well provided-for ensuite facilities. But probably the highlight, as mentioned in other reviews, was the excellence of the breakfast. Great choice, cooked to order, with delicious home-made preserves also available.
