Red Lion Hotel by Greene King Inns

The staff were all amazing, very friendly, accommodating and helpful! So, thank you all for making us so welcome. (Gold stars for the staff! They were working really hard!) Dinner was decent... Breakfast was GREAT! The beds were really comfy and I slept so well..

The rooms were very basic, and dated - and actually, mine smelled rather musty/damp. Also my TV was on at the wall, and I could see from the red light that it was in standby mode. But it wouldn't turn on. I think the remote battery must have died. Not the end of the world. I read my book. But, little things.

Location to where I was working

The room was scruffy and outdated. The shower head leaked when used as the hose was split and water cascaded onto bathroom floor that was stained somewhat, I had to hold shower head in bath to use !!

The fact it was an old coaching house back in the day The old pictures on the walls

Creaking stairs and people moving around property in middle of night Water pipes sounded like a ships foghorn No handrails in and out of baths/shower A manhole cover that clonked ever time a car went over it Location not great Food finished at 21.30 Personally not good value

The room was good though on ground floor and a little noisy as people passed to go to their rooms. Bathroom is a little tired but clean with a a good shower. The food was very good and the staff all lovely.

Bathroom could do with a refit. However it is value for money.

Good choice buffet breakfast yogurt,fresh fruit and cereals choices of cooked breakfasts. Toast, fresh bakery bread crumpets and croissant s etc. All delicious. I also had dinner every now night in The Red Lion. Great variety to choose from. Good value for money. Not over priced, portions enough not too much and cooked to perfection. Well presented and delicious. All staff always friendly,helpful and welcoming. My room was clean, comfy, functional. The bed was very clean and comfy. I slept really well. I travelled on my own. It was a good place to stay if you are on your own. Felt safe and welcome. Good transport connection s in the town. Direct bus route to Portsmouth from bus station, which is 10 mins walk in the town. The town is like any other. It did have plenty of good coffee/places to eat etc. and a very good bakery opposite The Red Lion. Which is handy for a packed lunch for the day. Great value for money.

The hair dryer has a bit of a short restricted cable , only one place you could easily plug it on. So I ended up crouching down by the TV. Took a little while to work out how to adjust the temperature on the shower. However the shower was very good and quite powerful. Nothing to ruin my stay.

Convenient location

This hotel is tatty and old. The public rooms and bedrooms are badly in need of replacement and renovation. Most of the bedroom furniture should've been put in a skip years ago. The bathrooms are in a 1960s timewarp. The bath/shower in my room was badby stained as was the floor.

The room needs a face lift and the bathroom needs renovation. Plumbing noise in bathroom..

Nothing food wasn't cooked properly my room well door wouldn't lock and no lock on toilet aswell me and my daughter started coming up with lumps it turn out bed bugs from hotel I like money back for all this
