"Nice place to stay, good food, comfy beds"

9.0

room, location, choice on the menu

Bar service wasnt very good - not enough staff on, only one member of staff - who was also busy making coffees, fetching glasses and cups and teapots etc. The wait for drinks at the bar was long, and then we had to go back to order food and wait again.

"A comfortable stay"

9.0

A very nice quirky hotel, the room was large and very clean, a little dated but that was ok, the staff were great and food was very good, it was good value for money, the room I had was at the front of the hotel and above the bar so you could hear muffled sounds from this, but again by no means an issue,

There was notong to dislike,

"Overall, a good stay in a charming, historical building on a very pretty historical high street"

8.0

As someone with celiac's disease, I was impressed by the number of gluten-free options available for the complimentary breakfast, as well as at the hotel's restaurant. The staff too are quite exceptional - I particularly appreciated the efforts of and want to shout out Zoe and Christine who both do a fantastic job of running the breakfast in the mornings (at least while I was there). The hotel has plenty of charm given its 15th century roots, and overall the facility is quite well maintained given how old its bones are!

My room was right above the bar/restaurant, meaning it was occasionally a bit noisy at night, but nothing I couldn't sleep through without ear plugs. The carpet in the room was showing some signs of wear and tear, and could probably do with a deep clean or outright replacement. My room's floor also didn't have a single spot that was level, either, and kind of felt like being in the middle of a big bowl - but there is probably not a lot that can be helped there - it is a 600+ year old hotel after all!

"Could be a good hotel if profit were reinvested in the property."

3.0

Its location was ideal.

The property and especially the rooms are in desperate need of renovation. The staff level was inadequate to provide proper service.
