Hillgrove Hotel

I went to the Hotel, to celebrate my 76th birthday, traveling from Waterford originally from Galway, on the morning of the 7th May, I by chance asked a Lady at reception called Monti I think, would she organise my birthday meal for 7 pm, this woman was excellent at her job, what ever I as asked for it was no problem, she was very encouraging, because I have Arthritis all over me, including my hands, she asked me to write down the details, which was roast duck, roast Vegetables, smashed potatoes, and apple sponge cake with a lit candle and.ice cream,🍰 and cappuccino Coffee, happy birthday was written on the plate, the 3 black berries on the plate was special as I was born on a Farm, the fact that Patrick Cavanaugh was a Monaghan Man, along with sliced strawberries, cream, and custard, was very special, then the Roast duck was so tasted and tender, this lady was off duty at this time, I was a little disappointed, not getting the lit candle 🕯️ and the ball of ice cream, I think Maggie was to shy to finish the Job, however I was very happy over all, the young staff were excellent I gave the Barman, and the to young woman a tip. best regards Tom Connaughton

the back of the men's swimming pool Door on my way in from the swimming pool was dirty, and the back of the sorting of the alcohol bottles, the yard was untidy, I would love to spend 4 days during the July Festival at the same price per Night, In that beautiful Hotel 🏨

Staff . Beautiful location

The staff are lovely and the location is great for Monaghan town.

The hotel would benefit from upgrading the building and the rooms. It’s quite dated.
