Gumbo Limbo was awesome. My wife and I stayed for 5 nights while exploring Mayan ruins during the day. The staff and owners were excellent. Super friendly and fun to talk to. The location is gorgeous. It's in the middle of nowhere in the jungle, where the only sounds are the birds and other animals. The lodge only has a few cabanas (5 I think), so it will never be busy. In fact 4 of our nights there, we were the only guests. Our cabana was super nice as well. We had one with A/C (I definitely need that...), and it worked fast that after touring and climbing Mayan ruins, it cooled us off fast. We had a great kingsize bed and a roomy bathroom. The cabana was very clean. I definitely recommend this resort. If I am ever back in the San Ignacio area, I will book here again.

Truly awesome.... Steve and his father were great to hang out with and share stories. The place was beautiful and secluded. We were looking for some place to go that was quiet and would be awesome to wake up to and hear the critters and and sit in the sun rise and it was exactly that... honestly my favorite place i have stayed and will stay again should I be in Belize. Thanks Steve!

"4 Days in the Jungle"

10.0

We loved our stay at Gumbo Limbo and were reluctant to have to leave at the end of our stay. Mike and Steve were great hosts and were able to arrange the excursions we wanted from the hotel, as well as being able to transfer us to our next destination of the port in Belize City. The evening meals were good and we particular loved the cheesecake and the creamy onion soup. Our room was spacious and had a large patio area that was good for sitting on and the bathroom had a nice hot shower in it. The surroundings of the hotel are wonderful with a nicely decorated bar area, beautiful gardens and a nice pool area which was great for relaxing around and for taking a dip. There is also a short path through the jungle which make a pleasant stroll. The wifi was not great and only available in the bar area although Steve said that within the next month or so the service should improve dramatically. We did not find being a way out of town in any way problematic and it actually proved to really enhance our stay. We thoroughly recommend Gumbo Limbo as a base for exploring the Western part of Belize.

"Wonderful place!"

10.0

As they say here, the Gumbo Limbo Jungle Resort was UNBELIEZABLE! It is beautiful, the rooms are perfect, and the food is good. Best if all, Mike and Steve are perfect hosts. We loved every minute of our three-day stay. Mike was wonderfully patient with all our questions and both he and Steve had great recommendations on things to do in the area. Note: the road to the resort is rough and you may think you will never get there but it is worth it!

The place is gorgeous the owners are the nicest and most helpful layback people. It was a 3 days/night in havean! 2 things though: 1. You’ll be better with a 4 wheel drive to get there and don’t turn right to the dump area. 2. No AC which can be a problem until you get used to it. Overall highly recommended

"Best vacation ever!!!"

10.0

Our trip to Belize was a second Honeymoon to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We booked everything on line on our own and were a bit nervous to have done this without a travel agent. With that being said- our trip was amazing!!! The Gumbo Limbo was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. The owners, Mike and Steve, made us feel like family that was staying with them. They helped us arrange tours, gave us directions to do things on our own and sat up late talking and laughing with us. My hubby is a bit of a fussy eater but Mike always made sure the nights we were staying for dinner that they would have something he would eat, which was always amazing and first class. Dinner always started with a homemade soup or salad then the main course and finished with desert. breakfast each morning is fresh regional fruits, homemade banana bread, cereal, yogurt and FRENCH PRESS COFFEE. The coffee kicked off each morning for our touring to begin. Their location is perfectly located to see so much- we went to ATM caves, Caracol ruins, the inland blue hole, the zoo, the rio frio pools, Big rock Falls, Caye Caulker and into Guatemala to see the Tikal ruins. We can not wait to go back to Belize, and you better believe it we will be staying at the Gumbo Limbo once more, just this time with the rest of the family!!!

"Our First Trip to Belize"

10.0

Our first stay in Belize was at Gumbo Limbo Jungle Resort. It was amazing. The owners Mike and Steve were the best. I was greeted by my name on arrival, along with Steve introducing himself to both my girls. They took the time to find out what we wanted to do and see while we were there and they made sure we did the best. The food was amazingly every night and the fresh fruit in the morning was my favorite. You felt like you were visiting family while you stay at the resort. My girls and I can’t wait to return and visit again.

"Beautiful Jungle Get Away"

10.0

We had a wonderful time at Gumbo Limbo Jungle Resort. It's a little paradise out in the jungle with beautiful cabanas. Very quiet and peaceful. The owner, Mike, made us feel so at home and was very helpful with any questions we had. The breakfast and dinner at the resort were delicious. It is in a great location, in the middle of all the excursions and ruins that we visited. Would highly recommend this resort to any one wanting a little get away in the jungle.
