Palmira Beach Resort & Spa

The Palmira is located on the beach in Mui Ne. It was wonderful. Beautiful rooms, grounds, beach, pool, great staff, and good food. We moved here from the Doi Duong and it was a great move. It cost a little more but was definitely worth it.

The good old Palmira Resort. The decor of the buildings and rooms feel as though this resort is better suited to the late 70s. However, once you look past the decor, and enjoy it for what it is, another example of Vietnamese kitsch, the resort is ok. We had a Garden Villa with Sea View Room over the New Years period 08-09. Although we couldn't actually see the beach (we were on the ground floor of two) we could hear the waves crashing. The room was very spacious, almost too big. We had a double bed in one room, together with a twin bed that we didn't need as we were just a couple and a decent-sized bathroom. However, the mattress left a lot to be desired, and my pillow felt like a bunch of old jumpers stuffed into a pillow case. We did not have great sleeps at the Palmira. The breakfast was not good. The resort seemed to be into extremes, i.e. providing pasta arrabiata on the one hand, and plain bread rolls on the other, with not much in terms of quality in between. The fruit was lacking. The service on the front desk was good. The resort seems to cater for Russian tourists with information provided in Russian and the New Years Party, which was part of our booking, felt like we were in a Russian night club. The beach in front of the resort is pretty good. Clean, with a number of lounges available, however get in early as they get taken quickly. The pool was pretty cool as well. When the beach got too windy, and it gets very windy, hence all the wind-surfers and kite-surfers, it was great to be able to retreat to the pool. It was a decent size and the pool-side bar was a bonus. However, there was no food available from the bar which was a disappointment. I would recommend this resort because it is ok for the price range. There are heaps, and i mean heaps, of resorts in Mui Ne. Would i recommend going to Mui Ne? Not really. It is just a long strip of beach, and the beach is not all that fantastic unless you are into kite-surfing. The town of Mui Ne, if there is any, is all about tourism, so you will simply be lounging around the beach/your resort/restaurant/beach/pool.
