We chose this hotel because my friend had visited recently with her dog and raved about the hospitality and the breakfast. However, our own trip started with a crisis when my friend's dog had a traumatic accident on the way to the Lakes. We arrived much later than planned, shaken and exhausted, but the staff were incredible. They treated us like family from the moment we walked in. To brighten our spirits after such an awful start, they kindly upgraded us to their best room, a gesture that truly made our stay. The level of care extended to our dog, too. They waived his stay fee while he recovers and, since he has a sensitive stomach and couldn't have the usual 'doggy sausage,' they prepared a full bowl of scrambled eggs for his breakfast instead. If you want to feel genuinely cared for while exploring the Lake District, we cannot recommend this hotel enough. My friend who lives in UK is already looking forward to returning once her dog is better!

Nice atmosphere, lovely staircase, great location, parking, good breakfast, free pool (off-site)

Our room was on a smaller side, so only for short stays. I guess you can book a bigger one!
