National 9 Santa Cruz

Stayed here for 4 days and I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for clean comfortable budget accommodation. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They didn't mind us in the pool at night time which was magical. It is right across the road from Dennys which is good for breakfast and it is only 5 minute walk to bars and 20 minute to the boardwalk and beach. It was a great location for us as a group. I will be back if we visit santa cruz again .

This is an older motel in town...serviceable, but dated. Rooms are pretty small, but clean. Breakfast in the morning is s pack of danish and juice or coffee, but if you just need a place to crash for the night this is a better location than some of the places by the Boardwalk. Easy freeway access and parking is free. Tad noisy, but comfortable beds.

This motel is a bit dated but was comfortable enough for our last minute reservation. Apparently there was a race in town so choices were limited. The breakfast next day provides coffee/juice/packaged danishes. The staff was very friendly. I felt safe here even though Santa Cruz has a potpourri of wanderers.It's a few miles walking distance of the boardwalk and other places we were interested in going so we drove. The bathroom seemed updated but they will hopefully invest in new mattresses/bedspreads/and carpet soon. The bed was a bit springy in the mattress. They did have a ceiling fan, microwave, and small fridge in the room which was nice for us.

Front desk was very friendly. Room was above what I expected, except the rug was filthy. Every morning we would car black gunk on our feet into the shower. Best was comfortable. Had a microwave and small refrigerator.

It's an older motel. The owners are really nice they give you free coffee at the desk in the mornings and price is just right for Santa Cruz. Rooms are cozy and clean and parking is inside the motel parking lot

Back in August of 2017, I was on business in Santa Cruz and stayed at the Comfort Inn. I noticed the National 9 Motel next door. On my next visit in November, I checked it out. The National 9 and their rates were half of the Comfort Inn. I booked the National 9 instead. Check in was brief and the owner/manager was polite and efficient. I asked about breakfast and it was continental, which is typical of economy motels. Do not expect an omlette station. The room was small but was clean, quiet, and had all the necessities. The bed was comfortble and I had no trouble sleeping. The week I was there, several of the guests seem to be out of town contractors who were working in the area and were gone each day by 6:00 AM. I was there at times working during the day, and the only noise I heard was the houskeeping cart. I highly recommend this motel if you want to save money and do not expect five star experience.

We stayed one night, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean. We went swimming too. The pool was a little cool at first, but was comfortable after being in for a while. The pool was located right on a busy corner, there was a wall around it, but you could still hear and see the traffic. You can check in at noon, which is great compared to most hotels. The price was good for what you got. We stayed on a weekday. Prices are higher on the weekend. I think I would like to be closer to the middle of town next time. The brickwork around the front desk is quite unusual. Not sure how to describe it. Kind of Alice in Wonderlandy.

I didn't expect a lot because the motel was so cheap so I wasn't too surprised or overly disappointed. Pros...the room was clean and the sheets fresh. Check in was quick and easy. Cons... Electrical outlets near beds were limited. The biggest disappointed was that we found no free breakfast when we were ready to leave in the morning (7:25am) and no sign posted saying the hours it would be available. I might stay there again since it was cheap and clean.

We were very pleased with our stay.Choosing a motel online is sometimes difficult,not knowing how it looks in person.From the beginning of our stay,till the end,it was a great experience.....

I have stayed here twice ,first time was great but second time was extremely disappointing. I guess they think its ok to have construction begin at 0745 on the cottage in the back which was right outside my window. nail guns, compressor, four guys yelling back and forth to one another. I was under the impression that when you pay money to sleep somewhere you get to sleep.It doesn't happen here. I consider myself ripped off
