Hampshire Hotel Ballito Durban

Had a great stay..hotel very comfy and clean...will visit again..

Frankly, it is nothing more than a roadside motel, not a hotel. It is located adjacent to the N2 highway, in a partially developed industrial park, far from any attractions. On check-in, they insisted that my Hotels.com reservation was unpaid, despite me providing my confirmation number and evidence to the contrary. The receptionist insisted that I provide a bank statement confirming proof of payment. I asked to see the GM to hopefully clear up this matter. I was told that she was at a wedding and could not be disturbed. I was asked to pay again and seek a refund if I could provide a bank statement. After a 20 minutes delay and a standoff, they finally relented after I accessed the Hotel.com app on my mobile device and showed them proof. Unfortunately, this delay caused me to be late for a wedding reception I was attending. The room was reasonably well appointed, however lacked some basics: 1) no bath floor towel/mat. 2) no 'Do not disturb'/ Privacy notice for the door. 3) the room door safety hook was sheared off and not fixed, so could not be secured. There was evidence of inadequate cleaning of the room. The motel offers a complimentary breakfast, but the eating area is hopelessly inadequate.Overall, the motel is not very good and does not represent value for money. There are far better establishments in Ballito in this price range.

Things I liked - Shower was amazing - Bed was very comfortable - Excellent breakfast Problems - Room was really dark, why no light for the main area? - Air conditioner sounded like a tractor when running, it was a choice between being hot or getting woken up by it switching on and off - Desk in the room was wonky, kept thinking it was going to fall over - Tea and coffee were provided, but no kettle, was that just to tease? - Took three attempts and 20 minutes to get my room key working

The room was very clean and the location of the hotel is perfect.

trash can in the bathroom full and smelling on arrival. electric kettle not working. easy chair in the room in dire need of cleaning.

the receptionist could not find my bookings,it was late,when we finally checked in the toilet and bath plumming issues

Our stay was magnificent. Hotel staff Great indeed, Service Excellence. We felt Great, really Enjoyed our stay and sure to come back.

The hotel is in great condition and very comfortable. We visited on a long weekend and it was full and the other guests were very noisy and disruptive. They had loud conversations into the night and played loud music on their car radios and the hotel staff did not intervene. It was not a pleasant experience. Again, great hotel, but would recommend that notices are put up to request guests to be considerate to others.
