"Tranquillity and warm atmosphere "

10.0

We had a wonderful one-night stay at this charming small hotel. It felt more like a cozy bed and breakfast with its serene and peaceful ambiance. The room was simple but spotless, ensuring a comfortable night's rest. Breakfast was a delightful surprise—simple yet satisfying, catering to all tastes. Perfect retreat for those seeking a quiet getaway. Highly recommend!

"A Pleasant Stay in Eger"

8.0

We very much enjoyed our three-night stay at the Hotel Romantik. Our room on the third floor was comfortable and quiet. As some reviews have noted, the rooms have older furniture. The bathrooms have been updated. Think “old school bed and breakfast,” and you’ll understand the ambience. The friendly staff, who speak excellent English, were always ready to help. Breakfast is served in a lovely, garden-view room. This hotel is not a good choice for those who have difficulty climbing stairs, as all the guest rooms are up at least one flight of stairs. It is handy for those who like to walk, as the pedestrian zone of central Eger is just down the hill. It is conveniently located next door to the popular Egri Road Beatles Museum, and since there are signs around town that point the way to the museum, it is easy to find the way back to the hotel! The “Valley of the Beautiful Woman” (the site of many famous wine cellars and restaurants) is about a 25-minute walk from the hotel. We were able to walk to a bus stop a few blocks from the hotel where we could catch a bus to Budapest. It should be noted that the fare had to be purchased from the driver using exact change. Eger is a wonderful destination, and if we return, we’d like to stay again at the Hotel Romantik.

"Our third visit a bit disappointing..."

6.0

This was our third visit to this hotel. It is quaint and at walking distance from the city centre. Its interior is plain but nicely done. The staff is helpful. However, this time, we were somewhat disappointed. We were given room #16, which is a bit small (almost crammed) and which has no air conditioning, only a noisy swinging fan. Day temperatures well above 30C and 25+C inside the room made my night uncomfortable. The breakfast seemed to have fallen victim to cost savings. The sliced bread was not fresh, the meats and cheese were tasteless and there was no butter (only a 'spread', whatever that may be). Considering all, a EUR 65 price per night for a small double room is very well paid. For our next visit to Eger, we will probably be looking for another hotel.

Just dreadful. Ugly rooms. Terrible breakfast. How they got this rating is beyond my comprehension. It’s just another cheap b&b.

"Great hotel, great place, great stay!"

10.0

What a great find! To be honest, we booked this hotel as we only decided to go to Eger a few days before our stay and many others in the town were already fully booked, but I’m really glad we chose the Romantik. I see there are a few poor reviews on this site but they all seem to be from a number years ago, I certainly couldn’t fault the place and if I ever return to Eger (and I might well!) I’d definitely stay here again! It’s much bigger than it looks from the outside but has a cosy feel, the rooms weren’t large but more than adequate for our two-day stay, very clean, with a comfortable bed and one of the most powerful showers I’ve ever found in an hotel – I couldn’t use it on full power! Breakfast was included and very good, with a great selection of fruits, meats, cheeses etc, and eggs cooked to order if required, served in a light and airy room which looked out onto an attractive garden – a lovely spot to relax with a drink or a book. The staff were, without exception, great. They were all very welcoming and went out of their way to be helpful – the guy on reception noticed me smoking while we were parking the car so offered us a choice of rooms opening onto the garden so I wouldn’t have far to go if I wanted a cigarette! They all spoke some English, the guys on reception fluently. They showed us how to get to the pedestrian area of Eger – a couple of minutes’ walk away, so close but far enough away for the hotel to be quiet at night – where there were a large number of restaurants and wine bars (and the castle, well worth a visit!) and suggested places for us to eat, drink and visit; they even told us the best way to get to a nearby thermal baths we told them we were planning to visit on the way back to Budapest. We really enjoyed our stay, köszönöm szépen, Hotel Romantik, thank you very much!

Pieni "romanttinen" ehkä liian korkea odotusarvo. Aamiainen hyvä ja palvelu ensiluokkaista. Huoneet kaipaavat ehostusta samoin käytävät.

"Lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff"

10.0

We stayed for three nights in Eger at the Hotel Romantik. Situated close to both the bus station and the centre of the city, plus an easy walk to the Valley of The Beautiful Women (or Nice Women Valley as the signs said) the hotel is in a great location. Our room was a good size and very comfortable. Breakfast was a buffet with eggs cooked if you wanted. The best thing about the hotel though is the staff, who are friendly and helpful, especially the lady who went out her way to make sure some glasses we had from the Egri Csillag festival that was going on that weekend were wrapped and packaged safely (she did a great job, they made it back to London a week later via Bratislava and Budapest). We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Eger and would definitely stay at Hotel Romantik if we were to return.
